We found this place on our trip to Philadelphia in January 2017. What an awesome experience! Aside from the historical aspect, the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful with menu options. Going with the themed era, the staff was all dressed in clothing representing that time, the whole grained, course milled breads were served on metal plates with a metal butter dish and the water glasses were metal. Went there tonight! I had venison there when I visited years ago and it was excellent. Tonight I had beef medallions...they melted in my mouth like butter. So tender. The corn chowder is excellent. The wassail is always my favorite thing. The atmosphere was so fun for my kids after a day at the museum of the American revolution. There was a harpist playing beautiful music and the best part—Ben Franklin was there! What a fabulous experience. Wait staff was excellent as well.

Fantastic meal, service and atmosphere. Had the Mallard sausage, Chesapeake Eggs Benedict and carrot cake. What a great Easter meal.
