Lived in Philadelphia must of my life and finally visited City Tavern for the first time for my 52nd birthday. What was I waiting for? So stupid of me to have been wasting years of having awesome meals. Should have come here a long time ago. Great representation of Colonial Cuisine. Joni was our server she was just a delight. We had such a good time at this restaurant. It was more of a fascinating event then just a meal.
What's not to like? The City Tavern has the perfect trifecta: the ambiance is great with waitstaff dressed in period clothes and the table service reflective of the time. The food is delicious, we had the Turkey pot pie and Smoked pork chops, loved the colonial breads. The history is everywhere for those that care to imbibe with either historical drinks or stories told.
