Just Awful Carolina back institute is a business not a place to get sincere help. My fiance has back mid/ upper back pain. They insisted that he get an MRI. It was inconclusive they reported. No surprise to them I'm sure. After doing research we discovered that in only 1% of cases can an MRI produce accurate results for upper back pain!Also he needed a refill and they insisted that he come in. Just couldn't trust this practice Diagnosis: C7/T1 disc herniation, radiculopathy. Pain in left neck/back, left arm. Doc referred me to CBI for a steroid shot. The good: very nice lobby. The bad: Dr. Duncan did not feel the need to look at my MRI images prior to scheduling an epidural steroid shot. She did a very (very) minimalist strength test, and charged me $253 for it. 10 minutes. AGW They are an awesome group of physicians. Dr. Godbout does not take his personal life to this office whatsoever. His quality of care is the best out there and what goes on at home is no one's business but his own and do not believe everything you read and hear.
bad experience would not reccommend dr duncan I am sad to read and have to agree with the many negative reviews of Carolina Back Institute and Dr Duncan but unfortunately I too had what I consider substandard care and treatment the one time and last time went to this clinic for help with injuries from an accident. Infact what made it worse is I traveled a long distance rented a hotel to come all the way to this clinic for a special treatment called prolotherapy and was so encouraged about getting help thru this treatment. Hell. To. The. No!!! This is NOT the place you want to go for anything. I went to have my first infusion of Reclast and was told this would take an hour (a minimum of 20 minutes for the infusion and instructions on what to do to help the Reclast do its job). I took a friend with me for moral support. Never to return I contacted Carolina Back Institute on November 5th. They got me in right away and the receptionist was very understanding and friendly. November 6th I met with Neema Patel NP and she was very professional, friendly and understanding. She went over all of my options for pain relief clearly and thoroughly. I felt so good that I was finally getting someone to listen and help after spending a year going to different Orthopedic doctors, Neurologists, and even Duke Spine Center. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY This is the worst medical facility I have ever dealt with. My provider told me a procedure would cost somewhere between $150 and $180 then I got a bill for $930! They are refusing to take any responsibility for THEIR mistake and will not return calls. They even told me it is against policy for the provider to have given me this information, yet she did it anyway and I had to be penalized for it. Unfair and very deceptive.
dissatisfied I was very unsatisfied with the treatment I was provided and with the way I was treated. I NEVER saw an actual doctor, only a PA. I was told that I needed to have corticosteroid injections and that would help my chronic sciatica that I had been dealing with on and off for 10 years. I agreed hoping this would help.
