Highway Robbery. Complain to ncmedboard.org - I did My father has had pain in his sacrum/low back for years and finally went to the Back Institute for help. They did an MRI and gave him two steroid (cortisone?) shots, one on each side of the sacrum, over three visits (=6 shots total). They labeled the shots "surgery" and billed Medicare over $7,300.00 for them, not including the bill for the first visit, the MRI, and the visit to review the MRI. Cortisone shots typically cost no more than $100, not to mention they only last ... read more

Carolina Back Institute is not worth the money for the attitude! If you are looking for zero sympathy, slow results, and slow turnaround time with a rude nursing staff this is your place. I understand that some patients act like they have issues to receive certain meds, but treating everyone as though this is the case is what you can expect. No regard for your personal well being at all. It is definitely a money making machine. How do I make money, push them in and pull them out.

DO NOT GO HERE! This place is a JOKE. I was a patient there for over 2 years, went from doctor to doctor and NO ONE could find out how to fix me?! All they did was give me injection after injection for months. Then onto a VERY expensive PROLOTHERAPY (which they like to push on you when there is NO MORE injections they feel they can do). For 3 months I did prolo-which was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I was getting 5 treatments at a time, couldnt walk/ move for DAYS. Felt like I was ran over by a MAC-TRUCK. ... read more

DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY This is the worst medical facility I have ever dealt with. My provider told me a procedure would cost somewhere between $150 and $180 then I got a bill for $930! They are refusing to take any responsibility for THEIR mistake and will not return calls. They even told me it is against policy for the provider to have given me this information, yet she did it anyway and I had to be penalized for it. Unfair and very deceptive.

Dr. Duncan =) I saw Dr. Duncan this morning... I must admit I was a bit skeptical before going. It seemed as though there were some negative reviews of this practice. I must report, I found Carolina Back Institute a great office!!! Everyone was so nice. Dr. Duncan was absolutely GREAT. She was very professional and personable. She spent almost 45 minutes, listening to me and going over my concerns. She presented me with several options that would be available to me, should I decide to go with them. Never, did she push anythi... read more

THE TRUTH... I see Kathy Odom and get injections from Dr. Godbout. Kathy is amazing and caring and listens to everything I have to say and takes the time to figure out what I need to do to help maintain my pain level with different activities and longer lasting medication to help eliminate/decrease back pain. I can get in with her any time that I need and she always makes herself available if I have an emergency and even got me in for injections the first day I came in there to help ease my pain (no wait) Dr. Godbout did my ... read more

Good advise Cortisone shots are priced that way because they are injected with an xray to ensure the Dr does not hit something and cause paralysis. The DOCTORS at Carolina back saw something on me that Dr.Lacin (Raleigh Center for Neurosurgery and Sciences) neglected to look at or take any time to deal with- disk disease! It was clear on both an xray and MRI that Lacin had. Carolina back caught it, not Lacin.

Patient I saw Dr. Gwinn and Kathy Odom. They both treated me with the utmost respect and professionalism. I would recommend both to anyone. They took the time to listen to me and were very compassionate. I also had epidurals administered by Dr. Godbout. He was also very professional. I saw remarks about his personal life on this website, but everyone makes mistakes. I don't believe he takes his personal life into the office.

patient You need to check Dr. Chris Godbout's criminal record before you go see him. He has a colorful past. DUI, assault, etc...
