awesome salon-best in NYC – I have heard lots of good things about bumble...I always see models in magazines using the products so i thought, why not.. I got my color done by Warwick and I have to say, he ROCKED! He not only understood what I wanted but was super cool. Don't let the hype fool you – Despite the beautiful loft space at this downtown salon, there is absolutely nothing worth coming back for. The person who cut my hair was nice, but failed to listen as I told him my two no no's: no razor and no "look" hair that doesn't work on your everyday life. He said he was actually going to use a razor but guaranteed me that this time I was not going to regret it. don't bother – This place is so overrated and overpriced - I used to go to the one uptown, and even though the location sucked, it was fine. But when my stylist moved downtown, her rate went from $85 to $150, and no one notified me until I was getting read to pay! Totally unprofessional. The haircuts were average at best, and the staff is basically a bunch of posers with very little talent. There are much better and more reasonable places to get a haircut in NYC.
very pleased!! – i really had a great time bumble and bumble. i felt very welcome and my haircut was AMAZING! the stylist (eve) was very cool and listened to everything i had to say.i have been to both uptown and downtown locations and both salons are great!!
A+ – I've been to a slew of high end salons (except for Fekkai and the other top tier $$$$ ones) and I have to say that this is my BEST by far. Some say this is like a chop shop, where they cattle you in and out, but I simply do not mind that at all. I'm 23 and not in need of some prissy service. I come to get great stylish cuts for under $100, and this fits the bill. Amazing skilled layered cuts, beautiful interior, and they treat you right.
Curly Hair Beware – Horrible place! Worst haircut in my life! I had to go elsewhere the next day to get a re-cut to try to repair the frizz damage done by the razor cut given to my curly hair (a major no-no!) The entire staff is more interested in "image" (theirs) vs "quality" with staff totally distracted in their own hushed conversations. The guy drying my hair carried on a 10 minute convesation with my stylist about how he was forced to moonlight at photo shoots because of the poor pay at Bumble! This place is a joke.
Not So Thrilled – The great location and chic decor will make you feel like a princess but the staff certainly won't. Overall, the staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves and looking fabulous than making their customers look great. My stylist completely brushed off my input and didn't really make any noticeable difference in my hairstyle. I did not receive the creative styling that I would expect from this reputable salon. Basically, I paid a high price for a little trim and a nice blowout.
GREAT COLOR BY MICHELLE! – My hair finally looks great! I had dyed blonde hair that looked fake and had turned orange. I had been to many salons on Madison and Fifth Avenue for a color correction and nobody could help. I was actually told by a colorist at Frederic Fekkai during a consultation that if I wanted to change my color to not even come to him. Overrated – B&B is legendary as far as salons go. However, it's not as good as the reputation that precedes it. Cool facility, better products, horribly unattentive staff, adequate haircuts and horrendous prices. Everyone should experience it once. I moved onto a much better option--Cutler Salon, just a couple blocks up.
