Good! – I just ate at the BCC for the first time, and I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before doing so because I think that would have freaked me out and made it difficult to be objective about the experience. We got to the restaurant at 6pm on a weekday and were seated right away with no reservation. Our server was very friendly and offered suggestions. The food was delicious (the naan was sooo good!), except that I did find a long hair in my entree at the end of the meal which really grossed me out. The mango margarita, ... read more
Special Occassions Part 2- Nevermind – I was so wrong!!!!!! Since my last review, I decided that I had not been to this place for a few months and that I should do. What a mistake! It has truly gone downhill very quickly. We were totally rushed through our expensive, okay-tasting meal. The waitress was rude enough to actually take the tablecloth off of our table when we would not leave. We wanted to stick around a chat for a few minutes after finishing our meal, but I guess that this is not allowed at BCC. SO RUDE!!!! I will... read more
Boring boring boring – Service started exactly how I hate it--an ingratiating server gave her name and said "I will be taking care of you tonight." Always a sign that the food isn't going to be very good. The other sign was the lack of anyone Indian eating there. I was immediately disappointed when I asked for a glass of wine and she asked for my id (which i had forgotten--I'm 32). I understand a server's fear of losing her license, but she wouldn't budge. I settled for a very sweet and thick mango lassi. The lassi was the o... read more
So delicious and very nice staff – I have been looking for good Indian food ever since I moved back to Portland and I think I found it! We had the saag paneer and the coconut chicken curry. The flavor combination with the garlic naan and the yummy sauces they serve with the meal blew my mind! The portions were very generous and flavorful. The service was attentive and friendly, I never felt rushed or ignored. In a town where much of the service staff is cooler-than-thou and haughty I was very pleased with our sweet and smili... read more
SOOOO BAD – It was terrible food terrible service terrible space. I had Lamb Korma that was more like Lamb Vindaloo NOTHING like korma the mangorita was so so and their samosas were more like bad ground beef chimichangas!!!! What sort of an indian restaurant serves beef? just bad bad bad bad bad
Why do people go somewhere with such bad food? – I love Indian food but am unfortunately very disappointed with what Portland has to offer. Bombay Cricket club does however take the biscuit for the most ghastly Indian food in this town. I have been several times hoping that I ordered badly during the last meal. Alas, each time was equally as bad & I do not understand how the place stays open.
Excellent Food and Service! – We went on a weeknight and it was busy; we waited about a half an hour, but it was worth it. The Naan breads we ordered were delicious. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo (super hot), others ordered the Chicken Tikka and another Chicken dish. All of the food was outstanding. I have been to many Indian restaurants in Oregon and California and I liked this one. The service was great, as well. The poor waitress had to keep walking up and down the stairs to serve us. She was nice and attentive. Also, this r... read more
The creamy, delicate Fondue is the best anywhere. I like it with white wine. Would like to read what others like to drink with Gustav's Fondue.
Overated, bad service – I have enjoyed Indian food from small hole in the wall places to fine dining in London. Having heard great things about the cricket club I made an effort to eat there as soon as I came to Portland. We showed up at 4:58 for our five oclock reservation and were shown back outside to wait until five. I cannot describe the food in anyother way but abismal. The meat samosa was incredibly dry, the lamb was so chewy I had to spat some of it out, the raita taseted like what I can only describe as white paint ... read more
