Great food at Hawthorne haunt – I think a lot of the reviews about this restaurant are unfair. We had a great experience here and would go back in a heartbeat. We did have to wait for our table even though we had a reservation, but we were seated before our first drinks were finished. The bartender was easy going and fast and the Mango and Masa-ritas are tasty and strong. The food here is excellent, with many choices and everything delivered. Go family style and share that way you can eat a little bit of everything. Our serv... read more

Inexplicably high rating – I checked out Bombay Cricket Club on the strength of these reviews and have to say I was appalled by the food and the prices. Absolutely boilerplate Indian. Maybe I'm spoiled from living in the SF Bay Area for years, but I don't think so. Even the server steered me away from my first two choices (Mutter Paneer and Vegetable Biryani). The big-screen TV wrecks the "fine dining" ambience, but the food was the real problem -- no different from the steam-tray junk you get at those mediocre Indian buffet... read more

Neither Authentic nor enjoyable – We had a reservation at 6.30 we went in a few minutes late. We were hurried through our orders. The waitress told us we had to order everything at once, evn the drinks. We were told to leave even before we finished eating. I have not experienced this anywhere in the world. This guy is a shame on the legendary Indian Hospitality. By the way the food is not even authentic, The chef is Mexican. The roadside carts in downtown have much better indian food. Believe me I have three restaurants in B... read more

Large Portions, Reasonable Prices – Tried the Bombay Cricket Club for the first time yesterday evening. Judging from previous reviews, we must have gotten the one nice waitress in the place. Our service was very good. We started with the Vegetable Pakora & Meat Samosas, both were large portions and tasty. For our entrees we tried the Shrimp Saag and the Chicken Coconut Curry, both tasted very fresh. The onion Naan we orderd was HUGE and fresh. Prices were reasonable. No complaints from us.

I would be treated better at a county jail than how we were treated at the Bombay. Much like the other reviews we were hussled through our meal and asked to leave as soon as our drinks were half way gone. Also, I made the HORRIBLE mistake of putting my purse on the empty booth space next to our table and was chastized for such. Don't waste your time or money being treated like this. Portland is full of nice and friendly places to eat Indian food, we don't need Bombay.

How did this restaurant get such a high score?! – The food was ok, but the service was not. The hostess was rude, and the waiters were prompting us to leave, since there were people waiting. The cricket they show are the same games over and over again. Definitely, not worth the money.

Why such a high rating? – Went there tonight... Made a reservation for 6:30 for two. I arrived at 6:27, but the hostess would not allow me to sit at the table and wait for my friend to arrive. Lamb saag was cold and flavorless, aloo naan lacks authenticity. We were not finished eating yet (15min after getting our meal), when the waitress came and "offered" to box our food. Literally 2-3 minutes after the food was boxed (two separate meals into one box, by the way), we were asked to leave. Honestly, I do not understand how th... read more

Fast Food – We were 10 minutes late for our reservation, so we called on our way to the restaurant. The owner (I assume) gave us an icy greeting when we arrived. The food was average and not cheap (about $70 per person with drinks and tip). I have never been so rushed through a meal. The bussers came to take our plates within 5 minutes of them being set down. We were forced to order appetizers and entrees at the same time and the entrees arrived shortly after we started on our appetizers. The bussers came by every few minute... read more

will never go back – Overpriced for average to below average food. Deplorable service in a noisy uncomfortable setting.
