Everything for someone (me, for example) – Best Indian in Portland for my money. Casual, noisy, crowded, friendly atmosphere. Bad choice if you're stuffy, in a hurry, or think you're special. For serious heat in your food, go to the kitchen and tell the cook; the waitstaff might or might not relay your request for maximum spice, especially if you look nordic. Haven't worked my way through the entire menu yet, but so far, all dishes good to excellent. Best saag ever. Some nice white wines, and the Ritas are tasty and boozy, i... read more

Good, but a bit mixed – I have lived in DC and Northern Virginia, where there's an Indian restaurant practically on every corner, so I can't help but be a little dubious about Bombay Cricket Club. Yes, Lamb Shaihi was delicious, and yes, the Mangoritas were perfect (get everything spicy and have at least two of those suckers and you'll be well on your way to a delightful evening, regardless). You'll deal with unsmiling (yet efficient) Euro-style service, and you'll pay a bit too much for what you're getting. Still, the food ... read more

Lives up to its reputation Truly great Indian food! I read the reviews on this historic Portland mainstay and was not sure. The marsala chicken is to die for. Work of caution--not spicy is still VERY spicy. Get your water ready. Servers are knowledgable and friendly.

Some of the best Indian food around – My brother and I started coming here with our father who was born and raised in china, and has lived in india, now that he has passed on; We try to come here atleast once a month. I find the food authentic and flavorfull, The service is tops. If you love lamb or chicken dishes with just the right amount of heat and spices, this is the place. Start with the meat samosa's and mango chutney, then I recomend the lamb vindaloo. Huge chunks of lamb and peices of potato in a fruity curry sauce.... read more

gem nestled on hawthorne – I love reading other reviews , and am baffled that anyone could not love this place! to each his own!...I have traveled to India actually, so am quite familiar with the tastes of true indian cuisine, and i must say this place is right on the money. aromatic spices enter your nostrils as you wait for your food, and when it arrives the taste of ginger, cardomom, and cinammon tempt your palate. Wash it down with a lovely cup of chai. one review i read said the chai does not match up to the one at star... read more

Rude service, poor food quality – I used to love this local place, but they have gone downhill of late. Most recently we (3) turned up on a Wednesday without a reservation, were informed it would be a 30 minute wait but it was over an hour. Starters came out fast, but were followed almost immediately by mains before we were even half-through the starters. The waiter was rude. They made chicken jalfrezi which is not technically on the menu (prawn or vegetable options are) and it came out with fatty dark meat chicken. For $14 ... read more

Not real Indian food.... – After all the hype myself and friends finally got reservations to go... We had high hopes based on the ratings and write up. We were extremley disappointed. The food was not anything close to Real Indian food. Everything tasted like the ingrediants were canned. Over priced and deffently not catered to Vegetarian. We didnt get our water refilled till the very end of the meal and not once were we offered refills for our soft drinks. The only high point was the mango rita(at least they dont skimp on t... read more

Excellent Mango Margaritas – We've been going to this restaurant for years. The food is incredible and can be spicy if you like it that way. If you drink (and please don't drive, especially after two!) you have to try one of their mango margaritas! They have excellent flavor, are really huge and go great with the food. Reservations are good, but they won't let you in unless your whole party is there, and you're on time, so be prompt!

Forget your plane ticket to India ! – By far my favorite Indian restaurant in all of PDX. each bite is an exotic journey: cardamon pods in the chutney, mint/pepper dipping sauce, mango puree margaritas, jasmine rice with sapharon.......PERFECT. Tons of Best of Citysearch campaign awards on the walls so that alone speaks the truth. Seating is tight and plates are big so not good for huge crowds: must have reseravation!! TV's show live Cricket games: so authentic for the vibe! cost of food is a steal for it's quality. this is ... read more
