Portlanders have long awaited this restaurant since the owner closed Zefiro's. Portland's most elite are again hob-nobbing with each other amidst elegant and trendy surroundings. From the high ceilings to the opulent, mirror-bedecked restrooms, nothing has been overlooked. Wine is available from nearly any region or stick with your usual cocktail from the full bar. Poultry and seafood dominate the expansive menu, but you can also find plenty of pasta and beef. Be sure to leave room for an impressive dessert; like its predece... read more

Needs to shine its stars – Rencently dined on a Monday night. Host argued reservation was not in his book. Please take it up with your phone operator on Friday afternoons, not us. 8:15 pm and no other tables occupied and no one at the bar or in the lounge area. The service was professional and seamless. Although the food was a different story. Four small pieces of room temperature duck.on bland polenta and 3 carrots and a parsnip does not consistute at $28 price tag. If you want to charge these prices in PDX, please do, but ... read more
Great food & service – I've been to Blue Hour's happy hour for drink & dessert on several occasions, but never to dinner. I decided to have my 25th birthday dinner there. Though, we came in a large group the staff remained very cheerful and most attentive to our needs for the evening. The food was very tasteful. My guests and I had a grand time. I want to thank the staff of Blue Hour for making my birthday experience at their restuarant a wonderful one!
Very good drinks/food and fantastic service – We were running late and wanted to stop in for quick drinks and a quick bite (we're talking only a half hour) and asked our server if it could be done. He said it could, no problem, and told us what few things not to order (because they take longer to make). We ordered quickly and our drinks and small (bar) bites were put on our table with AMAZING SPEED. (luckily it was a Tuesday night) Our server was so helpful and kind, as were the other staff members. And the drinks were very ... read more
40 minutes for our entrees, Bad Table, Mediocre Service – Let me preface...I am an executive chef, been in the business a long time. I know food, I know fine dining service. This was not it. . I went to Bluehour as a surprise birthday from my girlfriend. It started bad and got worse. The hostess stumbled as to where to put us. We were seated at a two top in the center of the room. Not the most romantic. But my girlfriend was trying to impress me, so I didn't say anything. After 15 minutes waiting for our server to take our o... read more
Always Right On! – So we've been for brunch twice during the last three weekends. Each experience was a treat. The service from our waiter, Aric, was outstanding, friendly and polite. He is in the right place at the right time. The food is and always has been great. From the tea cakes, to the bloody marys and then the Pastrami Hash...everyone always wants another bite. The individual french press's are a nice touch. I do wish they were insulated so that the coffee would stay hot. All in all, it has been a treat to take two g... read more
amazing atmosphere and eye candy – I took my boyfriend in for dessert and drinks a blue hour last week and haven't been able to stop thinking about the poetry in motion. Generaly we are barflies and like more subdued atmospheres...but we had heard about the energy at the bar and could not resist. WE LOVED MARK and TOMMY. At first we weren't sure who was supposed to be taking care of us then realized as it got busier how much the whole exprience relied on team work. In short being a couple that dines about alot we appreciated... read more
Surprisingly good food/service for such a hip scene – Given the large bar scene - the quality of the dining room food was a very pleasant surprise. Excellent, varied menu with seafood and game standouts. Do not miss the cheese cart - they take their frommage seriously - to the point they have TWO frommagiers! Lovely (and lively) room. Service is very attentive and professional. Advance reservations are a must to get a good table.
and you are ?.....a waiter. – and I .... am the paying customer. a customer whom finds this establishment overrated. that is unless you are what they consider "someone" ??
EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT – We just moved from San Francisco to Portland and decided to celebrate our move at Bluehour (08/25/07), to our entire disappointment things went wrong, from the wine list to the unspeakable ungenuine manager, she was very untrue to this type of business and it did not feel very natural at all. Let me say that being a restaurateur for 14 years allows me to see things that customers will pick on. On another hand I command Chef Kenny for his food, really amazing but unfortunately other aspects of the ... read more
