QUITE EXCELLENT – Was there on Sunday, May 28th. Food was QUITE good, they do an excellent job. Serivce is FABULOUS, very well done. Surprising to us, wine bottles are 1/2 price on Sunday (although I think that 'special' was ending at the end of May). Took that opportunity to get a 1/2 priced TURLEY wine and boy, that was tastey. Not many restaurants get TURLEY wine, so you know you're in good shape when you run into one. Good for Grad – I took my granddaughter for dinner after her graduation and she loved it. Even though she is not used to fine dining, she was very comfortable. The menu has a good variety of entrees. Every time I have been there the service has been very good. The bar menu is a good option for a snack as well, when you just want an after work experience and some relaxation.
What's with all of the HYPE!! – My wife and I went to this highly recommended night spot for wonderful culinary experience. The evening's courses started with the fois gras, which was excellent! The next course was a risotto the kitchen cooked too long and forgot to season with salt. After that we had the misfortune to order the gnocchi which came out on a white plate with a white glutinous/sticky sauce (again..little or no seasoning). Best restaurant in town! – We visit Bluehour at least once a week, and no matter when we go it's always fabulous. Tonight we brought friends from out of town in to have drinks and snacks in the "cafe" and they were more than impressed. Our server was fun and the food and drinks were delicious. If you go, try the cocktail called Diva and bacon-wrapped scallops. Thanks again Bluehour for another fantastic meal! We'll be back soon!
Train your servers then I will come back! – We got the worst server! She never sold or recommended a single drink or food item! Even the famous hot cocoa was served cold (menu price is $3.50 but they charge $4.00?). Until our food was served (20 minutes later) she NEVER returned to our table! Not to offer bread or re-fill our water? She was too busy laughing with the hostess. The food was good and I tipped her 20% so the hostess and busser that worked real hard can make money! Another Sublime Experience – I have had breakfast, lunch, cocktails, and dinner at Blue Hour on trips to Portland and the last one was perhaps the best. The calamari appetizer with green lentils was a delightful combination. The lamb was an outstanding entree, the red beet and orange salad imaginative and delicious. Management changes not good – What happened to this place? It was hip now it is hippo. The cool staff has been replaced my corporate clones. It looks the same but the feeling is very right-wing. The food is cooked ok, but not much imagination. Drinks are just ok; but the food prices are a joke.
Bland food not worth the money. – I am willing to pay the price for good food, but I will pass on this place. The food was very bland and tasteless, yet very expensive. Also it had a cold and snooty atmosphere.
Great Food ~~ Great Service – I was at Bluehour with a group of 12 people who all showed up at different times. The server was wonderful at keeping all of the people and the tabs separate. Food and drink went from fries to full dinners, beer, wine and fancy martini's (vanilla orange drop was to die for!!). The range of food from down home cheese fondue to wonderful pasta w/truffles. I had the panini sandwich with pastrami, it was the leanest, tastiest pastrami I have ever had. I'll be back!
