What a crooked company. I signed up for virus protection for a year. A year later paypal sent me an email of a charge, from a company I've never heard of. This company happened to be Bitdefender, they auto renewed my virus protection without me agreeing or knowing. I called the company to cancel it, they said someone would call me in the next few days to go over it. Contacted PayPal to cancel it, since I did not authorize it, they refused. Horrible company. I was another of the victims of their auto-renew scam with zero warning or notice, just a notification that I'd been charged $95.95. Contacted customer service demanding a refund and never heard from them. I'm planning to file a fraud complaint with my bank and just hope that I can recoup the cost. The uniformly-negative BBB reviews say it all: buyer beware, and look for your antivirus/malware protection elsewhere than Bitdefender and their shady business practices.

The customer contacted our Support Teams on November 29th, requesting a refund for the automatic renewal payment. As we are currently receiving a higher number of requests than usual and it takes longer for us to reply, we could not respond to their request in a timely manner. The VPN software is allegedly malware that has software that is next to impossible to uninstall and then reinstalls itself whenever you restart your computer. That's just my opinion and what many other user reviews are stating. In my case I canceled my free trial after about a week of trying to get it to work and having tech support request that I download a chrome browser onto my MBP M1. Their auto-renewal is incredibly shady and opaque. I don't even remember enrolling in this and doubt I signed up for auto-renew at time of purchase. My app on my laptop made no mention of it when I purposefully checked my account for auto-renewal a couple weeks ago. Come to find out today I was charged. I do not recommend. I had to call support and of course they have to 'send it to their higher up support team' to get back to me in a couple days. bitdefender sales rep did not set up my account as i requested last year. i requested to not be under "auto renewal" . oct 26, 2021 i was notified that bitdefender charged me 3 times the amount that i paid in 2020 for a 1 year renewal. i sent a email demanding a refund to my credit card. today oct 28, my refund t my c.c. still was not posted. i called customer service, what a joke, rep told me it would show up 7 to 10 business days. this practice is not acceptable. i'll be looking into a different product to purchase.

I purchased a Bitdefender subscription about a year ago. July 15th 2021, I received an email from Bitdefender that my antivirus software subscription was about to expire and an offer to renew it for another year for $96.06. I renewed and paid with my Paypal account. July 19th, 2021, there is another charge for Bitdefender for $160.11. on my Paypal account. When I had originally gotten this service in June of last year, my laptop's hard drive had died shortly after most likely a coincidence. The reason I say this is because I had not gotten a replacement until April of this year, so I had genuinely forgotten about the service in the first place. However, what had jogged my memory was being recently charged $65 on my card with only a couple of emails flagged as spam warning me about the upcoming charge on auto-renewal. Bitdefender charged my credit card $97.19 without my consent. It will take 7-10 business days to refund money that was not authorized. I never authorized automatic renewals.
