If I could give zero stars, I would. InfoGuard is an identity theft protection that I pay for. They provide virus services from Bitdefender as part of my subscription. When I signed up for the virus protection, I was able to add both my PC and laptop with no problem. Actually, it worked for over a year. I rarely check the PC because my children just use it to play games on. I have used Bitdefender since 2016 and until now the service has been great. However, I had my mother signup for security protection and the current business practices of Bitdefender are outrageous and illegal!!! The current "sale" on the Bitdefender website says it's for "the first year only", but when you try to read the terms and conditions the website either takes you right back to the same page you are on or requires you to request access to the document through ****** docs. Bitdefender is not honest. There, tactic is the ***** tactic delay, delay delay. I have been trying since April, 24 2023 to get them to refund money only $99.99. Now it is June, 6 2023 and nothing. This program is awful. It completely interfered with many functions on my computer, including but not limited to an inability to connect with devices. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot and was unable to get in touch with customer support. Also, it didn't install correctly the first time despite following the instructions, and had no alerts or any way of knowing, leaving my unprotected. I was in dire need today of customer support from **********************; however, I quickly learned that it is virtually nonexistent. After suffering through the automated customer service, one is left for some time listening to muzak - then given the option to record the necessary information to receive a callback in "60 - 90 minutes". Only no one ever calls back. I tried this from two different phone lines - nothing. My hope is to move on from this company once my subscription expires.
Bitdefender uses tactics that are unethical such as auto-renewing customers without consent. In February 2022, I set up anti-virus protection with them. Apparently, auto renewal was set up but I would not intentionally do that. They do not make it evident that auto renewal is already selected when you purchase their products. This February, they charged me an auto-renewal, and when I requested a refund, they only offered half the amount, claiming that they notified me via email of the upcoming renewal. Bitdefender Anit-Virus functions as well as comparable anti-viruses. Nothing exceptional. It is support that is lacking in this company. Auto generated emails are only useful if they pertain to the situation at hand. Bitdefender auto emails contain erroneous information in which one can only ascertain their true intent, if having knowledge of the procedures of this company. On 1-9-23 I purchased an antivirus program from Bitdefender, and it didn't install properly, so it doesn't work properly, it just keeps asking for more money, without doing anything.. Sent many emails, all to no avail. Would like this fixed or my money back. Just got done calling them and they want me to fix it myself. Since I'm blind that doesn't help matters, when I can't see well enough to do anything, that helps the situation.
I had auto-renew set up on my bitdefender account. Per my account info on their website, the autorenewal was scheduled for Aug 21st, but on the 19th Aug when I went to the website to cancel, I saw that they had already charged for the renewal. They tried to state that they didn't want my acct to go unprotected, but my subscription was good to the 21st, not the 19th. Why advertise an auto-renew date if you are not going to abide by that.
