The entire bar and restaurant is designed in dark, elegant wood with very stylish and comfortable furniture, chairs and booths--even the requisite fireplace--giving it a private club-like feeling. Beautiful multi-hued granite is used for the table tops and the bar, highlighting the overall design. The owner, Brett Anderson, (a lawyer, but we won't hold that against him) has done an excellent job of designing and furnishing the restaurant and has obviously spared no expense. Called to make reservations and was told 15 mins and waited 1 hour. 3 larger parties were seated before us. No apology and no explanation was given. We also had 2 babies who were extremely patient. Poor service!
A big thank you to the Big Steer! We celebrated my daughter's college graduation here Saturday night. The food and most of all the service was spectacular! This has been one of our favorite restaurants for a while, and the experience we had capped of a memorable day for our family. Thanks for making our celebration top notch!

Best brunch in Altoona. I recommend the chicken fried steak made from beef tenderloin. Very dated decor, but who cares when the food is this good!

We don't go out to eat anywhere else now!!! We have never had a bad meal. I LOVE the iced tea served in the 1/2 carafe's, our glass is never empty :)
I have always loved this place. It's Altoona's best kept secret. Prime rib is awesome. Just moved back from Florida only one good steak down there. Hurricane Charley's in Punta Gorda.
