The entire bar and restaurant is designed in dark, elegant wood with very stylish and comfortable furniture, chairs and booths--even the requisite fireplace--giving it a private club-like feeling. Beautiful multi-hued granite is used for the table tops and the bar, highlighting the overall design. The owner, Brett Anderson, (a lawyer, but we won't hold that against him) has done an excellent job of designing and furnishing the restaurant and has obviously spared no expense. Had excellent food and service on a very very busy New Years evening. The wait was long, but totally worth it!!
We were trying to find a steak place to go with my parents, who were visiting from South Carolina. We decided to try The Big Steer and we were not disappointed! Our waitress was amazing, always on top of everything. And the food! It was all perfect! We will definitely be back!
Thier food is awesome cheese sticks are the best onion rings can't get any better first time in twenty visits I had the ribeye instead of the prime rib it was a good choice can't wait to go back 😋

Great steak, great kids' meals, great service! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes steak. Call ahead for seating - it's always busy (which means it's good!)
Growing up in Altoona I had actually forgotten about this place until the past few months. We went there for my daughters 21st birthday. Excellent bartender and waitress. Awesome food. Horribly rude hostess Went for breakfast two other times. Again wonderful food. Awesome wait staff. Horribly rude hostess. Attended a presentation Sunday in their side room.
