Bellco is not customer service oriented. Each time I call to speak with a representative I am on hold for over 30 minutes and call gets disconnected.
Business response:
Bellco is experiencing higher than normal call volume. We have messaging on our greeting letting members know, and offer a Call Back option that allows the caller’s place to be held in queue without waiting on the line for an available representative to assist. Members may also email Bellco through Online Banking.
On July 3, I received a letter from Bellco Credit Union dated 6/27/2018 that said they have "repeatedly requested documents from me" and that they would now consider my loan to be unsecured, and that the full amount of the loan is due and must be paid immediately within 10 days. The letter also stated "In order to retain possession of the collateral, please remit full payment to us within 10 days of receipt of this letter." Three years ago I closed out my Bellco CD. I was not happy with Bellco in that I had a CD worth more than the value of car I was preparing to buy. I called before buying the car and as I was buying from a private party the process with getting the loan in advance was onerous. I asked the Bellco rep if i could just pay for the car with and then bring the title after I rec'd it to Bellco and finalize the loan. She said yes. Bellco’s loan policy is to finance a maximum of 70% of the value of the vehicle on title loans. That should have been explained to the member when discussing auto loan options. Upon further research we found that the member withdrew the $25 from his membership account back in September 2015. However, at that time, the membership account was not closed. This is why the member has been receiving statements, but with no activity or balance on the account. The account has now been closed. We apologize for any confusion.
Bellco, I have been with you for over 20 yrs and have always regarded your business and services to be gold star quality. In fact, when I moved to NY I kept my Bellco accts because I was so happy with your services and website. So imagine my surprise when I logged into your new website? Do not deal with this company. They charge additional fees for everything, and if you are late a day or two with your payment, they will send you very rude letters. My car payment check was lost and after two weeks, I called them to check on the payment, and the rep told me the check hasn't been received. When I made a payment on the phone with my bank card, she charged me a late fee, and also told me that if I stop the lost check and if it gets there in the future, they'll charge me for a returned check fee...What a joke. Bellco prides itself with having some of the lowest fees in the financial industry, and none of the fees mentioned in the review is out of the ordinary. It is unfortunate that your payment was late. All Bellco auto loans provide for a grace period before a late fee is charged. In the event a payment is late beyond the grace period, there is a late payment fee assessed to the account. After switching jobs and waiting for my deposit to go through I had some recent late payments. After contacting Bellco Twice to pay and update my account as I was told it was, After the third month they sent me a letter saying I still owed 70 Dollars. I then proceeded to call them asking why this reason was. As a general rule, payments are due each month and the member’s loan documents disclose that a late fee will be charged when payments are not received within the grace period (usually 10 days). I received a letter from Bellco Credit Union dated 3/15/2018. This letter was to remind me that my 12 month Certificate of Deposit would mature on 5/18/2018 and that there was a grace period of 10 days after the maturity date to withdraw funds without being charged an early withdrawal penalty. This letter did not state if it was 10 calendar days or 10 working business days and did not specify the date that the grace period would end. Our member had a CD that expired on May 18, 2018. In our initial disclosures it states that all CDs will automatically renew into a like term CD after their expiration date and that the member has a 10-day grace period after the account matures in order to withdrawal funds without incurring an early withdrawal fee. I’m very disappointed with Bellco and their new website and more specifically the bill pay website. Bellco recently moved us on to their new website (apparently they’ve only moved some members) and it has been a nightmare! I am very disappointed with Bellco's IT department. I contacted them regarding an issue with their new online banking site, which did not offer the same download features as their old site. Transactions were out of order and there was missing vendor information. None of this happened with the old Bellco site. Ultimately, the IT representative blamed my third party service, Quicken, for the problem. There was little or no effort to investigate the problem within Bellco.
