Becco

4.3

About this business

Inspired by his travels across Italy, Joe Bastianich opened Becco with his mom Lidia to much fanfare. The word Becco comes from the Italian verb beccare, meaning "to nibble." A great addition to Broadway's dining alternatives, the lovely restaurant is a popular pit stop for theater-goers. Sample their delectable prix-fixe pasta menu and the kitchen's redefinition of Italian flavors with an impressive wine list and seasonal cocktails.

Mediocre food at best. Would not recommend this restaurant. Overall a very Unsophisticated dining experience. Expected more based on the Bastianich legacy. Someone is asleep in the kitchen.

We had high-expectations based on reviews, we are staying in NYC for Thanksgiving weekend and were looking forward to a delicious dinner. Service was ok, we ordered the pasta sampler and were told they were out of the homemade gnocchi several times yet it was being served to the tables around us, confusing but we did end up receiving some... the $29/bottle wine list was a nice alternative considering NYC prices. The food was average. Lots of choices on restaurant row, next time we would choose differently.

The food and atmosphere never disappoints! I had the carpaccio and peche spada (swordfish)...divine. Seriously, the caeser salad IS the best! And what a wine list! GO!

Our second visit. The first time was superb. Food was excellent and did not disappoint. Service was very good and attentive. Second visit was equally excellent. This establishment is always busy so strongly recommend reservations.

We had reservations, when we arrived the restaurant was packed. I thought it would be a long wait, it wasn’t, we were seated within 10 minutes. It was a little loud, seating is tight, and our waiter was difficult to understand, that was our only criticism. However, the food was so delicious and the service outstanding, that one can easily overlook the issues above. Highly recommend this restaurant, one of the best meals I have ever had in a restaurant!
