Becco

4.3

About this business

Inspired by his travels across Italy, Joe Bastianich opened Becco with his mom Lidia to much fanfare. The word Becco comes from the Italian verb beccare, meaning "to nibble." A great addition to Broadway's dining alternatives, the lovely restaurant is a popular pit stop for theater-goers. Sample their delectable prix-fixe pasta menu and the kitchen's redefinition of Italian flavors with an impressive wine list and seasonal cocktails.

Was seated immediately. The room was tight with tables, not much room to maneuver but we had a table against the wall. Got our water, but when we declined the drink and wine list, we were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink. That was about the only hitch in the night. Our waiter was rushed but thorough and service was maybe a bit slow but it was packed. I got the trio of endless pasta, wife got the porterhouse lamb chops. The pumpkin ravioli was amazing, the tomato basil spaghetti was delicious and when I turned do... read more

ate at becco a few years ago and raved about it. went again bc my memories were so fond, however, couldnt get past the front door without being treated horribly by the hostess (Chelsea). would rather give my brunello di montalcino order to an establishment that is gracious and humbled when someone selects your restaurant from the thousands of options in nyc. such a shame. becco should replace Chelsea with someone who makes their establishment shine.

I have eaten at Becchio many times and this was the least favorite mealI had. We were a party of 4; three of us had the pasta special..the pasta was so dente which was fine but wasn't crazy about the pomodoro sauce on the spaghetti. We went after our matinee show and I felt that we were pretty much ignored by our waitress. She was busy trying to serve the guests who needed to get to the later shows, but hardly came over to our table. I have had better service and a better meals in the past at Becco and feel like they are not... read more

I have been to Becco about four times now. The place is always full or packed. The service is good and I give the servers and staff a lot of credit for navigating thru the throngs well. My sister and I ate in what they call the boardroom section last nite. It was our second time together in it. The first time with our father. I like that section. We had an excellent table the first time. Last nite it was a two top but that is the nature of NYC dinning. Service was good. We had a bottle of red wine which was good. They didn’t... read more
