In the running for Worst Bank of America. Zero stars would be better. I have spent countless hours on customer service, talked to 10+ people for a few very basic requests. When you finally get in touch with a real person (if the phone does not disconnect after spending hours on hold), they all read the same script off the computer screen - like talking to robots. No meaningful customer service. I just needed to get a credit card replacement from them. You can't request online, you can't request on the mobile app. You need to call them or meet them in person. When you try to make an appointment, on each location, it says that the location is not available for appointments. When you call, you are on hold for 15 minutes and then they hang up on you. We paid our HELOC balance at closing when we sold our house in December. Weeks later I received an angry call from the buyer's attorney saying that we owed more money. After MANY phone calls (and very long hold times) to BOA as well as Merrill Lynch, and after having been told several times that I did not owe any more on the HELOC, I was notified that I did owe, so I paid it. Just terrible. Every time there is a major market event, Merrill Edge drops the ball, costing me time and opportunities and just making my day miserable. I could not possibly calculate the amount of potential earnings they have cost me so far and the timing of these events makes me think something more nefarious is going on. Asked for a replacement card. They said it would be 7 days. Instead of sending me a replacement card they canceled the card and issued a new one. Now I'm stuck without a business credit card and my charges are failing.
Worst fraud claim service department! First of all, someone made the same transaction, on the same day, at the same time, for the same amount and made ONE HUNDRED NINETY-SEVEN fraudulent charges and it went through. I woke up to an email saying there may be a fraud on my credit card. I called right away and they said they cleared it up. I got a resolution letter a couple of weeks later. As a long time B of A shareholder I am proud of how they tend to abuse people for small amounts. I have been very patient. I frequently write myself expense, and payroll checks from my B of A account, deposit it into my B of A personal checking, bill pay or savings only to have it put "on hold" for 2 or three days. Meanwhile within seconds it is withdrawn from my business account at B of A. Merrill Lynch is a ripoff! It's an elaborate scam to help you, part with your hard earned money. They are basically white collar thieves. They are in cahoots with companies like yahoo. Com and Yahoo finance to rip you off and scam you basically.
My son noticed unauthorized activity on his account. He immediately contacted the Fraud Department. After a 10-day investigation, they told him the activity was authorized and not Fraud. I don't understand how they determined this! He absolutely did not authorize the transactions, which consisted of $350 dollars that was transferred out of his account via Zelle.
