I have been with BOFA for 25 years and due to the lack of customer service and other issues, I have decided to close all my accounts with them by end of this month. The wait time to speak to a human takes over 1 hour and finally after speaking to a CSR they say oh sorry wrong **** and you get transferred to wait another hour to get hung up on. I have an inherited 401k, and its time to start RMDs, up until now i have not had to draw from Merrill or my late husbands' 401k. There is a data enty error, likely on Merrills part that doesnt associate my SS. with the correct name. The issue is that there is no administrative support, no one can look at my account to correct the error. I was told to reconfirm my account by submitting a letter with 2 forms of ID and my SS number through a fax. Its been done twice and emailed but not corrected. I have had great experiences with Bank of America until today . The deposit atm was down so I went through the drive thru after realizing my printed deposit slip was short I drove back through. The lady who assisted me was busy and couldnt come back to the window. I left my name and number. After waiting a few hours she called back to let me know the amount I thought I gave her was wrong. BOA canceled my account for no apparent reason no warning or anything they said that they don't need a reason, it's in the fine print. BOA threw me under the bus, canceled my account, denied me access to my funds while I was still in the process of traveling.This created a nightmare, caused much trouble and frustration for **** am 74 years old, retired and living on only $1200 SSA a month. Three words of advice - Do Not Use. You are better with putting cash under your mattress and getting loans off the street. Put a perfectly good payroll check in and they are holding it for 10 days even after I was promised by the teller it would be available the next day. **************** will not help and now Im without any money while they just sit on it. I went to a local Bank of America branch to deposit a $10,000 check. I was given a print out with a transaction ID informing me a hold. I was given dates the funds would be available. The deposit was made around 12:45 pm on 12/1/2021. $5300 was supposed to be available on 12/3/2021 at 5:00 pm and $4475 is supposed to be available 12/8/21 at 9:00 am. Well first of all I get a promotional offer from AAA for a bank of America credit card, with a 0%apr offer on purchases for 15 billing cycles (as most banks offer when they're trying to get you to sign on) so applied at AAA and instantly got approved. I get the card in the mail and pay off my heating **** and a couple others things to avoid any interest whatsoever. I would not recommend this Bank. The customer service is very poor. The knowledge of their workers is lacking. All I wanted to do was close my deceased brothers account. I followed all the steps. I made an appt at the bank. I sat with the man assigned to my appt. He was clueless on what to do with an estate. My Spouse and I would like to take this time and opportunity to thank Bank of America for what this business has done to us. Bank of America has held our Mortgage since July 2011. Just recently this business sold our mortgage off to another business on November 2021. My spouse and I will not say the name of the other business due to privacy reasoning.
