I was offered a "deal" to stay at a Wyndham resort for $199 for 4 days 3 nights at a location of my choosing. I would be reimbursed with a $200 Visa card and would have to attend a 2 hr seminar about their program. First of all they call you to bug you about when you're going to book your stay and they pressure you to make a decision on when you're going to stay. Representatives sell the points or time as investments and the same in value as "real estate" where it will increase in value. Believe me, we've been paid in full since 2009, orig purchased in 2002/03. We purchased min value of points and the only value that goes up is the yearly maintenance fees. They were well over $1000 last year. That's $1000 every year weather you use or don't use your time (on top of the $10,000 + Original investment you make). We have been world mark owners since 2001. We are absolutely UNHAPPY by how Wyndham is operating this time share. The cost is exuberant. RCI is ridiculously expensive. Unfortunately, it is NOT geared towards a GOOD experience.Here is an example: For a 2 night RCI exchange, we paid 5000 credits plus $200 exchange fee plus $25 resort fee plus $20 RCI housekeeping fee and the Wyndham froze our account because they still wanted another $85 of housekeeping fee for worldmark! We purchased our timeshare in Kona, Hawaii. We were told that this would be a good investment, this turned out to be untrue. When trying to use the timeshare, we could never schedule when we wanted it. We are victims of predatory lending and felt coerced and felt like we had to sign up. The maintenance fees were never mentioned and that the would continually go up. The monetary value of the timeshare can be bought inebay for a dollar. Some investment.
My wife and I have been Wyndham owners for many years, at least 20 and maybe more. We go so far back as to go back to a time when it was an honest company and a good value. DO NOT PURCHASE WITH THIS COMPANY!! We gradually increased our ownership over the years and for 3 of our last 4 purchases were lied to by the sales reps (this is now common practice throughout their sales force.) I am staying at the resort in New Orleans as a guest of a family member who had bought a timeshare many years ago. Since I was a family member and not an owner I had to attend a sales presentation. THey make it sound wonderful but then the numbers to buy were shocking. Of course they dropped the prices, ran my credit, dropped the price more, lowered the points and brought in 5 people to try to talk me into it and then make me feel horrible about myself for not wanting to purchase the plan. As a Wyndham owner I called this morning to make a reservation as I have for years. The request was for a 7 night stay beginning on Saturday 10 months from today. The point value was higher than previous years for the same week. I was told that the new policy was that each week only had 1 check in day that began the week instead of 3( Friday, Saturday or Sunday) as specified in Wydham's vacation check in calendar..
