Prices for propane are 1.69 they are trying to charge me over 3.00 due to there price lock which they automatically renewed without my concent. A few years ago I was told the price lock program was so that our price would not go over the price lock and would still get lower pricing based on the current propane prices This company is a price gouging crooks. I can't switch to another company because amerigas is going to try to charge me an arm and a leg.

Business response:

With the guaranteed price program price per gallon is subject to change each month, which is outlined in our Terms and Conditions of the contract. Customers do have the opportunity to opt out of the contract within the month of June for no additional charges. Additionally, after the initial set-up of the guaranteed price program, which does require consent, the program automatically renews. If the customer does not opt out the program will continue to renew yearly.

The propane was for heat and hot water for my elderly parents. Was on auto delivery, and got deliveries 2x a month for more than $700. Changed the account to will call, and now they can't get a delivery for 7 days. Presently, they have mysteriously got through 80 gallons of propane in a month and are on EMPTY NOW, but the website says they have 80%. Notified the office of the urgency of getting propane, customer service got nasty on when they can get a delivery truck out.

Business response:

While the account was on Forecast (automatic) deliveries the customer was receiving a high volume of deliveries as this type of delivery schedule is based of usage and weather along with other factors. When changing the account to Will Call it is outlined in our Terms and Conditions that deliveries could take 5-10 business days. A leak check was completed on 12/19/2019 to ensure there was no leak and confirm the safety of the customer. No leak was found at that time. Please ensure to contact the office at 30% while on Will C... read more

if I could do less than one star I would. This has been an ongoing complaint starting from November. A man came out and refilled my tank with gas but after that refilling which this has never happened before. The pilot light will not stay lit enough to burn the gas in the fireplace. A phone call later, a customer service representative told my wife and I it would be $160 for a man to come out just to check it out which is ridiculous if this person/company caused the problem in the first place. The customer service representa... read more

We have been a customer with Carolane which is now AmeriGas since 1991 and always paid our bill promptly. Originally there was no tank rental and now they charge $119 a year. They want to charge you to sign up for AmeriLock guaranteeing you will not run out of gas for $119 a year and if you do not agree to that, they charge you for opting out of a contract which you never signed. When you protest, they charge you a late fee on those charges. They overcharge you on the price of gas and it can vary approximately a couple of do... read more

Business response:

The $119.00 is an enrollment fee for a guaranteed price per gallon for an 11 month term, and is not a tank rental charge. Once the initial agreement is signed the contract automatic renews yearly unless a customer opts out of continuing the contract. If the contract is not opted out of in a certain amount of time a $150.00 termination fee may apply. Mr. Sink was credited for the enrollment fee of $119.00 and the termination fee of $150.00 as well as being credited for all late fees. The customer was charged $59.99 for the re... read more

Rented a gas tank for my pool over ten years ago. Had to move out of my house so had cancel my service. When I called they told me I had to pay $99 for a technician to go and disconnect my service even though Heritage Propane decided to leave the tank at the property. The charge was an initial $59 for service and the $40 for technician to go out and put a lock to the tank. Tried to reason with the technician stating that no utility company charges for disconnects. She then forward the call to her supervisor, Jackeline". Her ... read more

Business response:

Mr. M******* was only charged one fee of $59.99 which is outlined in our Terms and Conditions. Additionally, as a courtesy Mr. M******* was given a credit for the propane left in his tank upon removal. Mr. M******* did receive a refund, the local office made every attempt to come to an agreement with the customer.

Price gouging at its finest. Terrible customer service and very very very high pricing. We switched from their service because it was $4.60 per gal. We now have service from A-Tech. They provide LP to us for $1.65 per gallon. Do yourself a favor and go to anyone but Amerigas,

Business response:

We apologize for the dissatisfaction you experienced while doing business with us. AmeriGas does outline our pricing structure in our Terms and Conditions, which can be accessed anytime at Amerigas.com. Additionally, AmeriGas does offer pricing contracts for customer's who qualify in order to help with fluctuating gas prices.

I have had a HORRIBLE experience with this company. They were extremely dishonest and very hard to work with. I lost close to $1,000 dollars to them for filling my tank without my permission when I was in the process of selling a home that I just purchased. The receptionist was extremely rude each time I spoke with her on the phone to the point of having me in tears multiple times. The man who came to my house when I first came to do a "leak check" filled my tank without my permission and then it was considered my fault sinc... read more

Terrible service. They charge roughly 3 times the average going rate for Propane, on top of tank rental fees. I finally switched to a different provider, and now they won't pick up their tank, which has been sitting in my front yard for near 2 months now. If you're considering this company as your provider, don't. It'll be nothing but frustration and bills that go up 30-40% every year.

Business response:

Our pricing structure is outlined in our Terms and conditions which can be accessed anytime at AmeriGas.com. Tank removal was attempted the week of 10/28/2019, however the ability to safely remove the tank was hindered due to damage on the tank which was explained to Mr. Jurkiewicz. The removal has been rescheduled for 11/8/2019, weather permitting.
