THIEVES!! Rented a car from them thru ***************** in Florida for 9 days. They advertised $58.00 a day for a small car...I was in Florida for only 5 days as my trip was for work and I was able to resolve issues quickly and cut my trip short. They charged me $748.60 for 5 days. That is $150.00 + per day for a small Mazda. When I called CS to refute this, they tell me my rental was $77.00 per day with taxes and fees. If I could give them -10 I'd do it. I rented a car with them last Monday at the Newark Airport and returned it at Tampa Airport this last Thursday, that very first day they charged me 392 dollars which includes a 200 dollars security deposit which I was told would get them back when I returned the car. I am mind blown. We made and paid for a reservation last week... BECAUSE OF THIS, we booked a flight to BWI instead of NY. We called and asked if there is a way to get our car after the closing time, but if not it's ok and we'll just pick it up in the morning. An AVIS representative told us to book a reservation through them and they'll cancel ours so that they can put in a request to see if they'll stay open, and if decline it we can still just pick it up in the morning. When I picked up my vehicle the agent was extremely rude and impatient. My rental car smelled like an ash tray and was very dirty. Although the rental was for a day, I put an air freshener in the vehicle to help alleviate the smell. I then needed to extend my reservation for a few more hours on the day I returned the car and that process in a nutshell was a real mess. I prepaid to rent a car two weeks ago. I've called 5 times since renting the car two weeks ago. Get to the location and they say I need a credit card. I have a credit card but no one expressed this 2 weeks ago. I transferred my deposit to my credit card and processing is 14 days to post which won't work because my trip is today! I was charged $57 for fuel, even after I went to a gas station and filled the vehicle up before dropping off the vehicle. When I checked in the vehicle, the person who checked in the vehicle even annotated on the receipt the vehicle was full. When I made a complaint, the person on the phone wanted to have a copy of the gas station receipt, even though the fuel gage on the vehicle registered above full. Made a reservation, paid in advance, got my confirmation emails and such and when the time came, they had no cars. He said he called and left a voicemail, but I had nothing indicating I was called on my phone. I'm understanding though and I realize things happen sometimes. I rented a car from budget/Avis rental from 10/8/21-11/10/21 returning it with no damages or issues and the account was closed and I was emailed a receipt. On 02/07/22, I was charged $418.89 for what I was told was a nail in the tire. I called Budget.com and I was told it was tire damage so I called the location where I rented the car from and I was told there wasn't any damage reported so I'm confused. Avis car rental in WPB Fla. in my opinion are thieves. This was the 4th, possibly 5th consecutive time I was charged for fuel that I didn't owe. I fuel the car up right outside the gate of Avis at the airport. Each time I have to notify Avis and produce a receipt to have the charges removed. People beware! Check your statements. There is noway this a mistake. More like common practice.
