Avis Monterey, CA airport: Worst rental experience of my life. Rented an economy size Mazda SUV for two days. Long story short, the rental was quoted right around $150/day. Returned it with less than 200 miles on it, full tank of gas, and we were forced to drop the keys in their lockbox because they only had one person at the desk, and a line of 10+ customers. In Portland, Maine on 10/9/21 there was no way to reserve a rental car. I tried all the other companies. On 10/7/21, my father's wife passed away unexpectedly and had no other option to fly to Portland's Airport without knowing how I was going to get to his house 1.5 hrs away. To my delight, Avis had a car. (Apparently one of the only companies that did). The delightful woman working at the desk said that they only had the options of SUVs and I accepted, since if I was offered a Lamborghini, I guess I'd be driving that to Fr... read more

I've rented this car from Avis in Knoxville location got there and rented the car we had altercations with the rental the quoted price wasn't the same we argued about that they asked if we wanted insurance and the other little options that cost more money we told them no twice I drove to Illinois to pick up a friend once I got to Illinois I realized they had put a 975 hold on my money in my bank leaving me with just $29 to my name in Illinois they did not tell us in person that there would be a $350 deductible it was not on ... read more

I rented from Avis on 9-11-21 in Chesapeake Virginia. After picking the car up, while driving I noticed an ant crawling on the dash. I continued driving and didn't think much about it. I then feel something crawling on my leg, it's another ant. Once I got to my destination I looked around the car and when you opened the passenger door I seen over 50 ants. The location that I got the car from was closed so I called customer service. The customer service agent tried to offer me $30 dollars off my next rental. I explained to hi... read more

If half a star was permissable, I would give Avis that. I reserved a car and they did not have the car which I needed so I was told to file for a cancellation and that it would not be refunded. Ok, I asked for a partial refund and received no word except that my notations would be added to my file. Really? I lose out on a fair amount of cash and I get no real explanation. Poor customer service.
