My daughter's 2018 Q7 engine light came on and dealership gave me an estimate of $2500 plus for alternator, water pump and thermostat. I questioned the water pump for sure as temperature gauge was working ok. I took her car to a independent mechanic and they did same test for engine light. HOWEVER, absolutely no need for alternator, water pump and thermostat. These three codes did even appear. What did appear was the hose disconnected from the manifold.
