Our restaurant shares a name with the highway that runs from Naples to Canosa, Puglia. True to our namesake, we gather our inspiration from southern Italy, particularly Campania, the region surrounding Naples. Chef David Taylor oversees the menu, which features fresh pasta, house-butchered and house-cured meats and authentic Neapolitan pizza. Complementing the rustic menu, Wine Director/owner Shelley Lindgren selects wines that highlight the indigenous grapes from Campania and nearby regions. Since we opened A16 in February,... read more

A pleasant surprise – The food and service were outstanding. We walked in on a Sat evening around 5:45 and were seated by 6:40. We left our name and then did a little shopping around the Marina and they called us on my cell phone to let us know our table was ready. Food was flavorful, sophisticated and overall some of the best food we have had at a restaurant in a long time. Very affordable too. Hanger steak was great! Wine list is excellent and our server was very helpdul with food and wine pairings. Highly recommended.
Dissapointed – I had high expectations for A16 after seeing the rating on CitySearch, despite having a couple of friends who were down on their experience at this restaurant. Most of the times the CitySearch ratings are right on but in this case they were way off. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes for a table to become available. While waiting several people walked in and were seated immediately. The Hostess said at one point that the people at our table "were paying and just about to leave" yet between... read more
Long Wait For Average Food – My wife and I had dinner here a couple of months ago with no reservation and the wait on a Wednesday night was a ridiculous 2 hours. I can understand waiting for a long period of time for food to die for but I wasn't impressed at all with the menu. It didn't help that the two hostesses caved in to Marina locals with no reservations and often got seated before others that were patiently waiting. Come on, 2 hour wait for just average food? Sorry will never do it again.
A-16: Highway to Hell – This was dreadful. We had reservations, but were kept waiting for "our table" while others who came in after us, same size parties, were seated immediately. We were finally seated in the PATIO (where nobody else was seated) where it was RAINING like mad with water flooding the floor and dripping from the poor "covering". When asked if this was the best table we could get after waiting, response was, "unless you want to wait more." Food was below average - pork was completely fatty and had random bits ... read more
worst meal I have ever eaten in San Francisco – The atmosphere is fine, the service is fine, the wine is good but the food is almost inedible.
Good, but not Great... – I had to give this place a try after the buzz generated by the reviews all over Bay Area publications and the fact that I live a few blocks away. Like many reviewers, I waited for about 30 minutes on a weekday even with reservations. I found the waitstaff hurried and the place can get extremely loud with the typical Marina crowd. Although the pizza and appetizers were good, I did not find it great and can't understand all the rave reviews this place is generating since there are dozens of restaurants... read more
Reservations Not Honored – Do not go here with a reservation if you expect to be seated on time. After they were 30 minutes late, and we still hadn't been seated, we opted to eat at the counter. It would have been at least 45 minutes late if we had not opted to do this. The waiting area is noisy and crowded.
Worth the parking hassle... – So it took me 20 minutes to find parking, the 3 hours of pure pleasure that I experienced was worth it. We waited a bit for our reservation but i had been warned ahead of time and was expecting it. In that time, a had a lovely Italian white wine and some time to chat with friends and soak up the atmosphere. When seated, we were treated very well by our lovely server, and the food and wine were exceptional. Do not miss the specials appetizers!
Good but not worth Marina hassle – This is a good place if you happen to live in the Marina but it's not really worth the hassle of parking and dealing with the Marina "scene." The tables were a little too close together and our waitress had to go from one side of the table to the other because there wasn't enough room for to walk in the aisle. They are very knowledgeable about their wine list. The cannellini bean and garlic side is to die for!
