Our restaurant shares a name with the highway that runs from Naples to Canosa, Puglia. True to our namesake, we gather our inspiration from southern Italy, particularly Campania, the region surrounding Naples. Chef David Taylor oversees the menu, which features fresh pasta, house-butchered and house-cured meats and authentic Neapolitan pizza. Complementing the rustic menu, Wine Director/owner Shelley Lindgren selects wines that highlight the indigenous grapes from Campania and nearby regions. Since we opened A16 in February,... read more

Disappointing – As a 3rd Generation Italian-American (& San Franciscan), this has got to be the most disappointing fare and overrated restaurant that I have been to in quite a while. Since my family comes from the South of Italy as well, it's hard to find any authenticity in any of the dishes. Service is good and it does get noisy. If you like to mingle among the 20 & 30 somethings - this is a great place but hey, after a couple of glasses of wine, anything tastes good if you're hungry!
A bit of a let down – I have been hearing the most wonderful things about A16 for over a year now, and I finally made a reservation for me and my husband this past weekend. We were both pretty amazed at how very average the food was. The mozzarella appetizer was really delicious, but it was pretty much downhill from there on out. In particular, the Tagliolini with mushrooms and pancetta was pretty inedible. It just tasted like overly salted mushroom soup. I am hoping it was just an off batch, because it was truly the worst p... read more
Wonderful--just be patient – Admittedly, it's hard to get in and you'll wait to eat. You have to go there at peace with that fact. But having to wait should not keep you from trying this wonderful restaurant. The food uses disarmingly few and simple ingredients but nonetheless offers surprising depth of flavor. The reasonably-priced wine list contains many selections Americans simply do not often see. While at times rushed, the staff is courteous, efficient, and attentive. And I disagree with posters that find it expensive. ... read more
For Casual Dining, A16 Rocks – The pizza is fantastic, the wine list is eclectic and the fresh mozzarella is to die for. It's often very crowded, and the waits for tables can be long, even with reservations, but don't miss this food. And the service is always friendly.
Got a Reservation? Be Ready to Wait! – WOW, my fiance and I have been there half a dozen times and have only sat inside the restaurant twice (this last visit we did). I can tell you that if you sit at the bar its great. The bartenders are great (Brooke was very helpful in selecting wines by the glass) and the food is the same. BUT PLEASE BE READY TO WAIT TO SIT AT YOUR TABLE REGARLESS OF YOUR RESERVATION!! WE WAITED AN HOUR! Yes, a full hour! A glass of Prosecco does not make up for it. I will think twice when bringing frien... read more
Average is the perfect word to describe this place. I've been hearing about their pizza forever--and let me tell you it's not all that great. Our appetizers were bland and the meal was overpriced. Great wine selection though and the waitress was attentive. On top of everything else, the restaurant is deafening.
Our party of four made reservations on a Sunday night at 8:30pm and didn't get seated until after 9:30pm without any apology or any effort to make our evening right. The pizzas were soggy, the zuppa was excellent, salmon was marginal. We talked to another party of four that same evening that also had reservations at 8:30 and didn't get seated until after us. Why make reservations I ask, the place wasn't even very good.
casual & trendy – Its casual and bustling, its not cutting edge, just a fun place to go and eat without going out on the town, I enjoy the wine selections, even though the prices are a bit higher than previously, but you have a lot to choose from compared to other restaurants, I like a large selection, at a reasonable price to go with a casual but inventive meal.
Took a nosedive – I've been to A16 4 or 5 x and it has always been pretty good, not great, but decent. Now it is really not so good. It's definitely gone downhill since opening. The pizzas aren't nearly as good as they used to be and the menu needs a glossary to be able to understand what the food is.
