Our restaurant shares a name with the highway that runs from Naples to Canosa, Puglia. True to our namesake, we gather our inspiration from southern Italy, particularly Campania, the region surrounding Naples. Chef David Taylor oversees the menu, which features fresh pasta, house-butchered and house-cured meats and authentic Neapolitan pizza. Complementing the rustic menu, Wine Director/owner Shelley Lindgren selects wines that highlight the indigenous grapes from Campania and nearby regions. Since we opened A16 in February,... read more

Surprisingly the best PIZZA in SF – If you like thin Napoli style pizza, this is the place. The other items are wonderful as well. Great wine selection and great service. We did not have reservations but showed up early so we got seated without any problems.
One of the best meals – We loved everything about A16 from the silky burrata cheese, the mushroom pizza, and fabulous house made sausage. The wine list is mesmerizing but reasonably priced. I suggest just letting yourself be guided by your server as we did. Our server knew his menu and wines and was very helpful and professional. We will being going back as soon as we can get a reservation and now I understand why it is so hard to get a table--food and service so good at their prices = very crowded.
User review by emreozenci – I heard good reviews about A16.I made a resevation one month in advence for two people. I arived the place on time, actualy couple minutes earlyer. They wanted me to wait 50 minutes witha fake smile on their face..Atleast i was expectin an appology but it seems to me that they just dont care about the costumers. What can i say? Good luck in this bussiness.
Worth the wait – A downside of a place as good as A16 are the hordes that arrive after word gets out. We thought would breeze in for a quick pizza lunch (two days after a good review in the Chronicle.) It was packed. After thirty minutes by the bar and fifteen minutes at our table without speaking to a server we left. Not a good first impression. We came back later for dinner to find the restaurant even more crowded. I told the hostess about our disappointing experience at lunch and to her credit she manged to get us a table... read more
Big Let Down.... – The food was ok, nothing spectacular. While fooseball is one of my favorite games to play, it was obnoxious having one in the middle of the restaurant next to dinner tables. Our server was cold and acted as though we should be lucky to be seated at one of her tables where she paid zero attention to us. In fact, no one from the restaurant stopped by to see how our dinner was going. Our server suggested a dessert which turned out to be a bitter and tasted awful. After we very nicely told her why we barely pu... read more
Overrated! – I may have anticipated too much based on the reviews and our 2 week wait for a reservation here. I went into A16 with big expectations and came out disappointed. The pizza was the only saving grace for this hip Italian joint. Unfortunately, when we failed to order the expensive wine suggested, each ordered dinner + 1 appetizer for the whole table, our waitress turned on us treating us poorly and almost nonexistent at times. I ordered a pasta dish which turned out to be on par with noodles and ragu. I did try my ... read more
Really Great – My girlfriend and I had a great experience here on Thursday. The food is simple but all their top quality ingredients just shine. We loved a special bruschetta with sauted greens whose seed the owner brought back from Italy and Mariquita farms grows. The pizzas are the best in the area without a doubt. Service was attentive and fun and we loved the wine recommendation that the sommelier gave us. She is so easy going and not intimidating. Given the quality of food and wine it was easy on the wallet. A perfect d... read more
completely overrated – After going here 3 times, twice for dinner & once for lunch, I just don't understand what the hype is. Securing reservations and finding parking is a chore. The food is nothing that special, though the pizza was good and the wine list is FANTASTIC! My friend ordered a "cesar salad" which was essentially a few romaine leaves with shaved cheese on them and some dressing drizzled on top for $8. The service has always been unpretentious and actually good, but dinner is especially loud, and the outside pati... read more
NOT TOO LONG....ON A SATURDAY NIGHT – I went around 9:00pm and didn't expect to get a table but I had read that seating at the bar/counter was an option. I waited (not long actually) for a spot (two of which were being taken up by two people who weren't even planning on eating there but talking to their friends who were). I had the crab salad (nothing special), ceci bean/cabbage/pork meatball soup (mild chicken soup flavor/good meatballs; nothing special); funghi pizza w/arugala and proscuitto (again nothing that's not compa... read more
