It's not that I don't recommend the place, but the corporate culture is bizarre and detracts from the overall experience. As other people have commented elsewhere, the marketing with the VAP as "not an enrollment fee" is just downright patronizing. The customer service is not helpful and very slow to respond to request. Very difficult to close account even when you move out of state.

I really wanted to join the Gallery Place VIDA, took a class and enjoyed it. Looked at the membership options online and did not want the optional packages they 'offer' for enrollment. The checkout at the end says "enrollment fee $0" "Value Added Package $75" and "Value Added Package $75". I spoke with someone on the phone and said I did not want the value add package, I was then told it's not an option it's actually the enrollment fee and they let you get a package to get 'benefit' out of the enrollment fee. RecommendedVIDA is by far the most comprehensive and well equipped gym in The Washington DC metropolitan area!
It’s a great gym - with great facilities. UPDATE: for a organization that prides itself on community involvement, hard for me to fathom, especially with all their members that are government employees, that they will not wave their freeze your membership fee. Especially since they raised it from the agreed upon $25 to $28, insult to injury. So many other places in DC reaching out, helping Federal employees, VIDA not so much. I asked for this to be raised to the owner/executive level, and queue the 🦗🦗🦗. Crickets!
I'm not the kind of guy that goes to the gym and not the typical person you would expect to find at the gym, but at Vida, I feel right at home. The staff is very welcoming, other members are sociable, and you don't feel intimidated. I work out at varying times at the Chinatown location and have always felt comfortable. If something needs fixed, put it in the suggestion box and it's fixed. Had a locker break on me, put a note in the box, and two days later it was fixed (I didn't work out in between).
