avoid Sunday night – This place currently has a lot of knockoffs, starting with the $6.00 fee for valet parking--made even more distasteful when you get the bill, you don't expect this place to be low cost, but it is E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E. That is bad enough, but the food is mediocre at best, especially at their prices. We had a lamb dish, (small, fatty chops), a veal dish, also mediocre, tough and overcooked, very small spinach salads, (spinach is cheap). Short pour drinks, server even warned of this due to whoever was on the b... read more
Great Dinner – I had a fabolous dinner on Jan 31st 2008. The restaurant was full and still the food and the service were great. The carpaccio was very fresh and had a great flavor, the cozze were presented in a big bowl, I think at least e pound of greatly prepared mussels. The risotto with sausage and my wife scaloppine were very tastfull. Great wine list and great creme brulee. Maybe the previous review was from another restaurateur close to this restaurant, and maybe he was pist seeing Venice Restaurant so busy. Any time ... read more
Disappointment. – We were looking forward to our first time dining experience at Venice on NYE. We booked the reservation when a friend recommended the restaurant - italian food is our favorite so we were even more thrilled. We ended up being seated by the front door and in a cramped area. Keep in mind it was less than 10 degrees that evening so the draft near the front wasn't exactly comfortable (we were moved one table over in between two smaller tables and we barely fit) Our waiter didn't explain the menu whatsoever and k... read more
Great food, nice atmosphere – We visited on a Saturday night in December. I had the lamb special in Marsala sauce which was phenomenal. Everyone at our table was happy with their meal. The service was pretty good as well. Only complaint is that it was quite loud.
authentic Italian food, best Italian wine list in town, friendly people – This restaurant is one of my favorite one. I go every week, for happy hours or for dinner. Venice staff is always friendly and professional. They just add few more dishes to the happy hours. I think is the best happy hours $3 food and $5 drinks and wine. If you want they will let you go inside the wine cellar, it is a great experience. The food is great and consistent. My favorite server is Desiree.
best Italian restaurant in town, we loved the music, a must go – The restaurant is beatifull. Great music and ambience. Andrea Bocelli was playing during our dinner. The gnocchi scarpariello were a melt in your mouth dream. My risotto with salsiccia was to die, the truffle oil made it perfect. My husband loved the lamb ossobuco. The crespelle was a great finish. Great restaurant.
Nothing Special -Stick to Apps and Wine List – Went to Venice Ristorante this weekend with a group of 4 ordering apps, wine and entrees. The apps were good (meat and cheese in particular were good) and the extensive winelist had some very good selections. The entrees on the other hand fell far short of our expectations -- they were not horrible just lacked taste and similar to what I would expect in a downscale restaurant. The only person who was somewhat satisfied with their selection had ordered the bone-in steak. The wait... read more
LOVE the Carpaccio al Profumo di Tartufo – I go just for the Carpaccio al Profumo di Tartufo... it's excellent! The filet mignon is sliced very thin and is very lean and tender. The capers are slightly fried which are perfect because they take on a salty vs pickled characteristic. The lime truffle oil brings all the flavors together. With a beautiful glass of red wine (they have plenty to choose from) I can't think of a better way to start a meal.
STILL THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN DENVER – I love Venice Ristorante. just going there and looking all the walls of fame is incredible. They get reviews after reviews, from Westword to Rocky Mountain News, from Fox channel to GoodMorning San Diego, from 303 magazine to 5280. THE FOOD AT VENICE IS AMAZING FROM CARPACCIO TO GNOCCHI, CALAMARI, RISOTTO and VEAL. VENICE IS BY FAR THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN COLORADO. I TRAVEL IN DENVER ONCE A MONTH AND I LOVE TO EAT AT VENICE. ALL THE EMPLOYEES ARE WELL TRAINED AND THE FOOD ... read more
