10 dollar margaritas??!!! – I stumbled into Velvet Margarita after getting laid off from my job. Not the perfect place since their "cheap" margies are 10 frigging dollars! I got a mango one and it was good, but not 10 dollars good!
first timer! – heard a lot about this place and finally got a chance to check it out tonight! Really impressed. Very sexy place! Food was good. Ladies were hot. Have to check it out on the weekend. Have a feeling I can find my future wife there. Did i mention the ladies were hot!!!
more Lights – the lighting is horrible. the only lights are the Tea Lights that are on your table. Bring A Flashlight so you can read the menu
cool scene! – In town from NYC and read about this place in Newsweek mag. And have to say was not let down. (You know us Newyorkers!!) Decor was pretty amazing and the Filet Mignon tacos were the best. Ended up staying all night and the best was the DJ playing a Monkeys song in spanish and realized Micky Dolenz was at the next table! PS in love with the patio bartender!
Good food, pushy service – Went here on a date. The tables aren't really set up for close seating. Food was good, although the waitress seemed to ocassionally get lost. The worst part, was the multiple people (waitress, bus boys) who kept trying to clean our table, take our plates (still full of food, BTW) and generally made it clear they wanted our table...in a restaurant only half full.
LOVE THIS PLACE! – By far, my favorite Mexican restaurant in Hollywood! No matter what part of town were in, my friends and I ALWAYS make it part of our evening... Update: Still the best!
STAYED ALL NIGHT – Wow! So, heres the thingI grew up in Hollywood and not too much impresses me at this point, especially the idea of checking out the almost always disappointing hot spot, but after weeks of hearing my friends go on and on about their new favorite place in town, I put my suspicions aside and headed out for the Velvet Margarita. finally something different! – I'm Latino and thought I had seen it all! Writing in to say that I finally found a place in LA that makes me proud of my culture. Food AUTHENTIC... not what maybe some people are used to. It's what I grew up on. Art work and decor...you have to go back a few times to take it all in! (which I plan on doing) Bravo!
Cool vibe; old hags – I was digging the chic Mexican vibe. The outside bar only serves Mixican beers. The music is even fun for a while. The problem is that the bar is populated with Middle age singles. Not exactly what most bar patrons have n mind when seeking a hot crowd. However, if you are into hittin' the older chics this is the place to go. Based on my experience, they litteraly reach out and grab you.
