La Velvet Margarita Cantina serves up family recipes handed down through the generations in an ambiance that is Hollywood swank with Mexican flare. Aside from the extensive menu, a long list of colorfully titled drinks include the Pink Puta and the Velvet Gringo, and of course, the restaurant's namesake La Velvet Margarita. It is a Hollywood hot-spot, so dress accordingly, who knows which star you might see enjoying their Pink Puta.

Thanks for the good time! – Came for my freinds b-day party. Normally don't write reviews but felt I had to give some props to this place. Had the best Chicken enchiladas, heard Smiths and Sinatra in Spanish, genius! and got to shake Owen wilson hand! Nice night in Hollywood! Will defintely be back. Thanks Velvet Cantina!
Don't believe the hype! – Those recipes did NOT come from granny- they came from your grocer's freezer section! I recognised that distinct mole flavor- tastes EXACTLY like the one I make- FROM A JAR! The "specialty" drinks are not only overpriced (come on! $15 for some well tequila just because you serve it in a pineapple?), but the bartenders act like they are doing you a favor by serving you. If you're into paying top dollar for mediocrity, Velvet Margarita is your Big Enchilada!
Vaughnistan sighting! – Had to write in. I'm not going to apologize for loving to "star gaze" Can't believe I saw them! It was sooo exciting. Jamie Foxx was there last time I ate there but seeing Jennifer what a dream. Made my night!
Loved It!!! – Wow! This place blew me away! My friends and I were in from San Fran and had the best time...from what I can remember:) I heard so much about Velvet Margarita from our friends in L.A. and I was sooo glad that it wasn't the typical Hollywood let down. We'll be back for sure!
Never again!! – Went on a Saturday night for as a farewell-to-a-friend meeting place, and I must say that I will never go again on a weekend! The bartenders were horrible at both bar stations. Waited forever to get a drink & was not even get acknowledged by anyone behind the bar. The outside bartenders were very rude. Despite my friend's raving & recommendation of this place, I was NOT impressed at all.
Gracias/Thank You Velvet Margarita! – I am a Mexican-American thirty-something male born and raised in the city of Los Angeles and rarely do I experience a refreshing spin on my beloved culture's timeless traditions. This place seems to capture every facet of Mexican-American authenticity in it's cuisine, imagery, and entertainment with sincerity, respect, and even a slight sense of humor. It's somewhat out of my character to write or read a review but I could not help myself after reading a few ignorant remarks regarding th... read more
You've GOTTA check this spot out!!! – I went here the other night on a blind date and while the date didnt work out, despite the numerous Pomegranite Margaritas I had, the place was awesome!!! It was the weekend so it was packed with a really hot crowd & even hotter bartenders (gotta go back & find out his name). Stayed 'til closing. On the way out, I think I even spotted a celeb or two. Definitely going back.
BEST MEXICAN IN LA! – Went to check it out to see what the hype was about. Had the best steak tacos and calamari. Should have made a reaservation had to wait about an hour but it was a cool scene and got a chance to catch a buzz on some really good margaritas. From a latino agelino. Thanks for keeping it real!
I really wanted it to be goood....I really did – We had heard about it from Star Shoes people but doggone it, it was sooooo pricey and the service was soooooo slow. I have to say that the food was very good so that was a good point. We couldn't actually SEE what we were eating because it is so dim at the table but it tasted good. I think I know what I ate. The only time the servers came by was to take our food away even though we weren't through eating....If I could eat the food someplace else besides in here, I'd be happy.
