expensive and not good margaritas – Great, if you like expensive uninteresting canned margarita. WOW, did i say expensive margarita? Food is below average, not a very good place. Ambience is fun, but get drunk before you go there as it's expensive.
GREAT!! – JUST HAD A TERRIFIC FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE VELVET CANTINA AND JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS FOR HAVING MY WIFE AND I AT YOUR BEAUTIFUL ESTABLISHMENT. WE WERE TREATED WONDERFUL. DELICIOUS FOOD AND DRINKS. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU AND THANKS FOR MAKING OUR NIGHT. (IT WAS OUR 14 YEAR ANIVERSARY!)
outstanding! – Decor is like nothing i have ever seen. hope they have a good halloween party to go to because decor sure lends to it. food was very good. drinks were tasty and strong the way i like them! to the people that run this place have to say thanks for bringing something different to hollywood. its about time. was getting tired of the same type of places opening over and over. looking forward to getting back there asap
BLOWN AWAY!! – After reading the previous review I had to address "the haters" in town. I too had my birthday there and argually had the best birthday ever. The food great! drinks great! service great! The tatooed owner personally came to our table and explained the zagat rated family recipes and the backround of the restaurant. fiesta! – Went to a b-day party at the velvet margarita this past weekend and we had a blast.drinks were soooo good. My girlfreind drank one in a real pinapple and had a sip have to say it was damm good! We didnt eat. wait was a couple of hours for a table. We're told to make a reservation next time. Looking forward to going back and eating. The food looked good and some girl told me it was the best chips and salsa she ever hadLooking forward to finding out for myself.
Food is not authentic Mexican – My best friend and I walked in on a Tuesday night and were immediately impressed by the decor and the atmosphere. The handsome host told us it would be 10 minutes before our table was ready and suggested we sit at the bar 'til then, which we did. Our drinks were wonderful, but we were not seated for 45 minutes!!! Our server was very friendly, and the chips and salsa were great. But they were out of house salad and our entrees were bland and boring. We will go back for drinks, though.
Different in a good way! – What a freaky place...in a refreshing way! I actually really liked it. Of course the area is still a little shady but as long you can find parking, check this place out. Not another LA copy cat!!!
Woo hoo!! – This place is the bomb!! It's got everything-unique ambience, awesome food, good drinks, good service. The decor is really cool, straight out a Tarantino movie. Good dishes to try-tomatillo spinach enchiladas and ahi tuna tacos. The salsas they serve with the chips are really good. The drink menu is hilarious with really funny names like Pink Puta. Parking is a pain but all in all an awesome place I will definitely go back to!
back again! – Wanted to check out the scene on the weekends. Had a great time. Hung mostly on the patio. Hot latin bartender out there. Have to get his name next time. Just had drinks. Tried to get a table but front door guy mentioned a 2 hour wait so we just drank. Had magaritas which have to say probally the best ive ever had. Had a pomagranate margarita never had one before. Its now my new favorite drink. This place has such a good vibe. Never seen anything like it. great designers!
