We are a fourth generation family business. Valpo Velvet was started in 1947 and we still use the formulas that Herb and Gordon Brown perfected with the help of their degrees of Dairy Engineering from The University of Wisconsin. We still make all ice cream fresh weekly from scratch on the premises.

I’m a glutton, according to my wife, because I love their ice cream so much that my favorite treat there is a “Viking”. A Five-scooper with toppings and bananas stacked on end to look like the horns on a Vikings Helmet.
Every time I’m home to visit my dad, I bring my boys there for ice cream. Delicious!
I went for the first time today had smoked pork sandwich. Most amazing sandwich and pork I’ve had ever. I would like to meet the pitmaster/chef. It was to die for. Let me know

Throw-back quality and charm! Great menu full of homemade soups and sandwiches, comfort food and edgy choices. Cherry 🍒 phosphates and ice cream to boot!!!! Wish I could transport you back to Montross, VA! Next to my mom, you are one of my favorite reasons to come back to Valpo!
