I wish I had heard about the Veterans Golden Years Contest sooner! I'm just starting training for the Olympics in 10M Air Rifle- I'm former AMU and etc etc. If I didn't win this match, I would have shot way below average. But it IS with their guns- same type I've been training with so far though I bet. I'd even be shooting for Portland VAMC haha. Want some national recognition? Bump the qual guys nicely.
Big, BIG thank you to all the nurses, doctors, front office and security staff at the Portland VA. My wife hurt her knee last night and the 5 nurses on her roller derby team said that she should go in. Fortunately it wasn't broken but you couldn't tell that from the urgency of the ER staff. They treated it like it was serious. To my wife in major pain, it was. Everybody was very friendly and made my wife feel very welcome and laugh. Again, thank you.

With all the recent bad Press about VA care... I want to give my THANKS to the Portland VAMC and Oregon VA in general. Happily, the disrespectful attitudes and poor treatment of our heroes that are now being reported on about VAs around the country have not infected our program here in Oregon. I want to personally thank the employees and managers at the PDX VAMC, VA and ODVA for working together and maintaining an outstanding level of treatment and services in the Portland, Oregon area.
I love my VA doctor, I couldn't be more happy, he is the best doctor that I can ever remember having! (in 55 years!) Go Portland VA hospital!
This past Monday evening 04/05/14, I went to the Emergency Room with a temp of 102. I was in seeing a doctor within 5 minutes. It turned out to be a leg infection and the staff on 6D, my room 106 took very good care of me. The nurses spoiled me and are very concerning of their patience. Thank you all and God Bless. I had occasion to spend a night at Portland VA last weekend. Never been hospitalized before. Everyone from the ER to the floor Nurses to the cleaning and transport people, even the folks who brought me food were the friendliest nicest people you could wish for. My care was fast, courteous and very thorough. I was impressed with everyone. Carlyn K Custer
