After reading the reviews it seems too common - I reserved a truck way in advance to move out of state and they called two days before I was supposed to pick it up to say the truck isnt available at that location. They indicated a truck was available 30 minutes away, and while I wasnt happy about it, I accepted. I made U-Haul reservation on September 16 for pickup on October 30 at *************************************** of a twenty-foot truck for one-way rental to **************, ****.The reservation was for a 20-foot one-way truck for 4 days and 804 miles, including Safemove and Safetrip damage coverage for $77.00. Uhaul is the most unreliable, unscrupulous horrible company in the US. They lie whenever anyone picks up the phone-which is never. They never have the equipment promised, send their customers on wild goose chases-they add enormous amounts of stress to already stressful situations. Avoid this company completely.

Uhaul tried to bait and switch me. I made a reservation from va beach to Salem va to be one way. When I picked up truck it had the wrong mileage and wrong gas level compared to the sheet. I was told it would be taken care of when I dropped off the truck. When I dropped off truck, I was informed that there would be $1000 fee for dropping at wrong location. I made a reservation 2.5 months in advance to move from Camp *********, ** to the ************************** in *******************, **. I have already gave my apartment a 30 day move out notice. I had rented a Truck, got to my location and realized there was a lock on the tailgate. Called uhaul, waited for a call that never came. Then took the truck back stating the lock was on it, and I was out of time to use the truck. They agreed they wouldn't charge me. I was charged for it anyway.

I reserved a 26ft truck with one of their "guaranteed" reservations. The morning I was supposed to pick the truck up I get a text confirming my reservation, but the address for pickup is different then where I had initially reserved. The place is close so I didn't get upset but it got worse from there. When we got to the new location we went through the whole mobile check-in process up to it telling us to get the key out of a lockbox (even checking and noticing the equipment we reserved not inside). I got ripped off by the U-Haul ********************************************* of ****** ************************************. I had a hitch installation performed on 10/19/2021 and I was charged for 2.1 hours of labor but the job only took 1 hour and change. I came by this information from the gentleman who actually performed the installation. I'm obliged to the man's honesty however, I would not extend the same courtesy to the management of this store. I find a 1-star review to be very fitting. For my most recent experience, Id give a zero if I could however Ive rented from U-Haul over a dozen times. Each time has had its share of frustrations ranging from disgruntled employees, rude employees, to the truck needing maintenance to having to run to a different location to pick something up.
