I dislocated my shouder in a boating accident in 2018, rendering the shoulder useless. An MRI showed significant rotator cuff damage. I was referred to Dr. Atkinson with right shoulder pain. He looked at the x-rays and we talked about my options. He explained everything in great detail and answered all my questions. I ended up having to have surgery and I’m glad I did. On my post-op visit, he remembered my surgery and the complication I had with the nerve block and even remembered my husband and asked about him. Dr. Atkinson did a complete right shoulder replacement to relieve pain & increase my mobility. After completing a program of physical therapy in his office, I am more than satisfied with my progress. I am able to do everything that a patient that has had my surgery can expect to be able to do. And it is done without experiencing pain! Had a total knee replacement at a surgery center performed by Dr. Atkinson. I was able to walk out of the surgery center. Recovery was mostly painless - except for pushing my rehab. Follow up was excellent. Very happy with results. Am planning to have the other knee done soon. The physical therapists in the Cape Coral office are the bomb. They make it fun to exercise.
Dr. Atkinson did a knee replacement on me in July and I could not give him higher marks. He is a wonderful doctor who truly cares about his patients. He explained everything clearly to me and the surgery was very successful. Additionally, I have to say his physical therapy group is the best. I credit them with much of my recovery and gaining full functionality of my knee.
Dr. Atkinson was recommended to me by my primary care physician when I injured by shoulder and couldn’t raise my arm. I was hoping to avoid surgery and Dr. Atkinson listened to my concerns and came up with a treatment plan consisting of cortisone shot and physical therapy. I tore my rotator cuff and needed surgery. I met with Dr. Atlkinson. He asked me if I read his resume and saw his educational background. I did. He went to good schools. He then said that many times a second surgery is needed as rotator cuff repairs frequently re-tear. Despite my reservations after meeting Dr. Atkinson, I scheduled surgery with him based on his reviews.
