Dr Atkinson has been my Orthopedic for 10 years. He is always very kind, compassionate, and a fantastic surgeon, who looks out for your best interests. He and his staff make you feel at ease, and comfortable. Dr Atkinson explains everything so you can understand what has happened, what needs to be done. He did my knee replacement surgery, and has had to operate on my right shoulder twice due to falls. The outcome is outstanding. He has good Christian values, and will pray with you before surgery. Super cool and professional! Had a total right knee replacement back in February because knee was bone on bone and painful. Dr. Atkinson performed the surgery and what a difference. The whole staff from start to finished was very helpful and everything was explained in detail. Dr. Atkinson and his team are all first rate, attentive, professional, and even fun. I can't say enough about this team who helped me recover from a terrible shoulder dislocation. Dr. Atkinson did a shoulder replacement on my right shoulder and an arthroscopic surgery on my left. Both surgeries were successful and I have returned to my normal activities. Dr. Atkinson and his staff were professional, thorough and very pleasant to deal with. The surgeries were flawless, and with some excellent PT and work on my part, both shoulders recovered remarkably well. Dr, Atkinson is a terrific guy, and a very skilled surgeon. Dr. Atkinson and his team did a great job. Tried to avoid surgery but after some time I had to have surgery. The surgery was so quick, longer to have prep that the surgery. I had a very bad tear and a torn bicep. He repaired both. Also after surgery I had no pain. The nerve block last about 2-3 days and no pain after. The rehab staff is excellent. Been 4 months and have no pain and complete use . Great job!
I had complete shoulder replacement with Dr. Atkinson on December 30, 2022. At the appointment prior to surgery, he spent a significant amount of time reviewing the procedure and what to expect afterwards. What I found unusual was his openness to discuss the possibility that not every surgery results in the outcome desired. Everyone that I know that has had rotator cuff surgery all agreed that it was the most painful and long recovery procedure you could have, so I went in knowing that it was going to take a significant amount of time to hopefully get back to some kind of normalcy. After the surgery I never had any pain but of course I had very limited motion. I started therapy two days after the surgery and built my strength and improved my motion quickly so they released me after three month.
