I made an appointment with Dr. Atkinson after hearing wonderful recommendations from neighbors. I had initially gone to another doctor where I was kept waiting for 3 hours. I waited less than 5 minutes with Dr. Atkinson. He explained the procedure and was very thorough and professional. Dr Atkinson cares about his patients and how they recover and does not rush you in or out. I recently had a shoulder replacement in Ft Myers Fl. Excellent surgeon, great after care, and my Physical Therapist, Ed Vezzola and his team were also exceptional. Absolutely recommend all of them for any joint replacement!

I was referred to and met Dr Atkinson in December 2021. He was very courteous and fully explained the procedure required, based on my MRI results.My surgery took place at the Gladiolus Surgery Center Fort Myers, in mid February 2022 , which was an excellent facility with friendly and professional staff. They were very kind and considerate. The Doctor phoned my husband while I was in recovery and fully explained the surgery that had been more complicated than expected.He informed me of the follow up physical therapy required.... read more

My wife is a physical therapist and has seen patients for all of the ortho docs in the area. When I needed a shoulder replacement, there was only one choice...Dr. Atkinson. The staff handled x-rays, consultations, insurance processing beautifully while answering my questions. Surgery was scheduled which was on-time. I had minimal pain which was managed with medication and physical therapy the day after surgery. At home care and then in clinic PT has been excellent. Advanced Orthopedics has it's own PT office. I slipped and fell in Fall 2020 and injured both shoulders. Dr. Atkinson repaired right shoulder April 2021 and left shoulder Aug 2021 (rotator cuff, etc.) He was terrific and did an excellent job. Both shoulders are doing very well.

I have had an excellent experience with Dr Atkinson and his staff. Prior to surgery all aspects of the surgery were explained. Post surgery I had excellent physical therapy with Ed and his staff. I have full use of my shoulder and absolutely no pain. I highly recommend Dr Atkinson as a surgeon and his physical therapy department after surgery.

Dr Atkinson provided excellent care from start to finish. He clearly explained the entire process. The actual operation was much quicker than I expected. The initial therapy was in-home and went well with significant iimprovements in mobility the first week. All additional therapy was in his office in Cape Coral and was thoughtful, careful and with great expertise. I highly recommend him and all of his staff.

He thinks he is so important but very rude. Said he does not send you home with any pain meds right after surgery - probably to his friends only. I would never recommend him. Go somewhere else.

This doctor was not only rude and condescending but his front office staff LOST the disc with my Mom’s shoulder xray so now I have to chase down another one. BEWARE: this office should let patients know that the office space is NOT wheelchair accessible. It’s actually a home that is being used as a medical office. The floors and doors do not work well with wheelchairs. The parking lot is a joke because it’s designed for a home. This visit was a HORRIBLE experience from beginning to end.
