I was ask by brother took at his retirement account with Thrivent out of Lakewood, CA office. The first red flag was all the poor reviews on social media. It was worse than I had thought and very low hanging fruit. We met with his advisor asking for 3 years of December statements to compare with options my brother has at Fidelity. The advisor did not bring any of the requested statements and only supplied graphs mostly boilerplate from their website. My Dad became a customer in 1958, AAL would be ashamed on the company Thrivent has become. My Dad would be ashamed that he trusted his life savings to this company and the disrespect they have for our family. They do not return calls, emails, or answer questions with answers, just a run around story. They are not following the guidelines of the trust and when I questioned it, I was told to put on my big girl pants and suck it up by a senior officer. WOW! I fell on the bbb website just our of curiosity to see what other people thought of the Thrivent and am completely floored by the negative reviews here!! I have been a member of Thrivent for over 40 years becoming a member of Lutheran Brotherhood back in 1979 and have only had EXCELLENT EXPERIENCES with each of my agents and the company over the years. The reviews on this site are absolutley correct.Thrivent does not care about their customer, only their money. This company is not run by Christians , only money hungry financials. Be aware, read reviews and then run away. This company is a toal scam. There are very few positive remaks made by people about this company. Before the merger with Thrivent, it was a great Christian company.

This company is terrible, when I was born my Father purchased a small life insurance policy for me through our church. When I married, my Dad cancelled the policy. 30 years later, they somehow found me and began to send me bills for the policy. It seems they did not cancel the policy, but took loans against it to pay the premiums. Now they are trying to get me to pay the loan amount at 7 percent interest. as well as premiums. I’ve received consistently poor service from Thrivent and have moved all my financial accounts. There’s very little follow through or accountability.

A complete FRAUD. They opened an account in my name without contacting me. I had never heard of them. They now "claim" I am a client. They have ZERO positive Yelp reviews and for a good reason. telephone people are useless and claim there are no supervisors. Sad they are hiding behind the Lutheran Church to rip people off.

I applied online. Received an email with information on how to start my account online, how to sign up for e-statements, and o that my debit card would be in the mail in two weeks. I had to call because I was having trouble and they said sorry we can’t open you an account. I asked why and was told that they couldn’t tell me. I guess I’m glad because that is not the customer service I would like to experience.

Once upon a time. . . when it was Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) this was a good company with Christian values. Now it is a cold-hearted corporation whose only values seem to be greed and contention. Since 2013, not a year has passed by where my family has not had trouble with Thrivent, from their Member Relations department all the way up through the management of the Company. They have caused troubles with my IRS tax filings, account access and management, power of attorney, and passwords, while attacking my Biblical ... read more
