Out on a bike ride around the city on the 4th of July and my bike broke down on the middle of the bridge. A nice couple stopped to help but as they and my husband struggled to unjam the chain a kind soul stopped and introduced himself as a bike mechanic from Thick Bikes. He not only fixed my bike on the spot but adjusted it in the process. He literally saved that 4th of July day! After trying many bike shops throughout the Pittsburgh area, we decided that Thick Bikes is our LBS -- Local Bike Shop. The work is quick and at a reasonable price, but always works well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A number of times we brought through-riders, often from other countries, in for a quick tuneup, and their bikes were always fit it and repaired, leaving them to roll happily on their way. Way to go, Thick Bikes!
