My wife and I purchased 120000 pts from Welk resort in Northstar at Tahoe the end of May 2018. We were told about the maintenance fee due once a year and were ok with that. I received a bill for the maintenance fee end of August 2018. I glanced through it and say a date Jan 1 so I assumed it was due by Jan 1 every year. I received a phone call on sept 4 stating that I was pat due and going into collections. False advertising, shame on Welk Resorts and Soleil Marketing for selling false hopes and dreams. Timeshare is not what it is and my card got charged by a random person named Hannah Kelly based in California and I have no clue who this was, as well as another charge for $0.83 a short time after that charge. Let me start off by saying thank you to everyone who wrote reviews for my wife and I to read. We unfortunately bought into the timeshare and didn't read the reviews until the next day. You all totally saved us. We can't thank you enough. We sent over our cancellation letter and got a call back within 48hrs from the cancellation department. My wife and I purchasing a time share in Branson, MO with Welk in September 2014. It has been a total nightmare! We were promised 4 “bonus” weeks that we could rent out to help pay for our maintenance dues. LIE #1. When we finally got someone from California to respond, we were told that was not true. [Disclaimer: Long Review] If I could give this company no stars, I absolutely would. Let's start with how we even came across Welks Resort. My husband and I went to a Bridal Expo in San Jose on March 25, 2018. Towards the end of the show, we came across Welks Resort booth and the two representatives were very nice. My wife and I attended a timeshare presentation here in March 2018. It is certainly beautiful property but purchasing is not the right thing for us now. However, Will did a very fine job and was pleasant the etire time. We left feeling good about the company.
My ethnicity is Vietnamese which is relevant for the incident that occurred. I drove three hours to attend the presentation/tour in Lake Tahoe at the Northstar Resort on Friday, March 2nd. During the presentation I was asked about a past trip I found memorable, I replied with Vietnam since it was a great trip that I experienced when I was younger. I was approached at the Angel Stadium Supercross pit party to attend the Welks Resort timeshare presentation. I couldn't decide at the time where I wanted to utilize my gift, so the associate who took my information told me I could change my mind at the meeting without a problem, I just needed to mention the change to the associate that would be helping me.
