I would likeep to say that this companythat says there are family oriented is a lie. I had booked a trip to lake tahoe and the power when out the second day we were there. No one from the staff informed us about what was happening or going on. We lost power for 12 hours and the time we were there was snow season. So imagine you stuff on the resort and you had to wear your snow gear in you room because the power was out and you couldn'tus the heater. Also we couldn't go out and get food because of the weather. This was the worst vacation we have ever taken. After driving from st louis to branson we arrived at welks and were told we had no reservation. We booked and paid back in January and were sent an email confirmation. Turns out they forgot to actually book our room, our confirmation was not valid. So to "make it up to us" they gave us passes to thier waterpark which is just a pool w one waterslide and put us up in a crap hotel on the strip 10 minutes from the resort we were supposed to be staying at. In November we bought a welk vacation package to branson at a St. Louis Blues game. Me and my buddy were interested in taking our families on a vacation together and loved the face that there was a large waterpark on the facility that was included. We were told that buying and booking together would not be a problem and that we had up to one year to book our trip. In the sales pitch for their timeshare, Welk Resorts sold us on the Interval International getaways program, making it sound like if we buy into their Audition program, we would have the getaways availability for LIFE. This sounded like an amazing opportunity so we agreed to the Auditions program. When we asked for the link to their website for that, they gave us the Welk Experiences website, which is like a crappy Expedia. We purchased an ownership package from Welk. We were led to believe we could use the points we get every other year split over 2 years. This is basically untrue, considering we are trying to use our last year's points for this year's vacation, but can not bc it is summertime and they are booked. I've been told I can use next year's points and book for then, but this year's will basically be thrown away bc they don't keep anything available to use them. My recent experience with welk San Diego was horrible . We took a tour update to receive a gift we were told we can get which was free airfare w a 3 day 2 night stay in cabo. After tour they give us code for trip w out airfare and say they couldn't even give us airfare. I have a certificate signed by a welk again saying we can. They are not returning my calls and are giving me the run around about our gift they are not honoring our gift promised. From the start of our experience with Welk we have been lied to and treated poorly. We were promised several free gifts for listening to the presentation for the timeshare. Most of the gifts were not available and we had to select from unwanted gifts. Part of our gift was free air travel, that was a lie and never given to us. The trip we were supposed to get has repeatedly been unavailable and we have to keep providing dates we are available that they can never deliver. Now that i look back two years later, after that much disappointment i can see that from the beginning, we were promised lots of things that we never got or that were outright lies. From all of the "perks" that we were promised (As tickets, trip to Lego Land, Alaskan cruise, etc) but could never use, to the horrible experience at Welk San Diego with a three hour hard sell upgrade meeting that left my wife crying, this place has done nothing to accommodate us for any bad experiences. I'm an owner and very frustrated with my experience. I thought I was on a quarterly payment system for maintenance fees - I called in January to verify. I am now charged with a $135 late fee. There is no process to appeal a fee reversal despite never having any prior late fees. The owners lounge seems behind the technological times. There is no way to view your bill or sign up for quarterly payments.
