My mother is a new patient here. And from the first five minutes in the door i have never been so amazed. I have never said thank you so many times in my life. The care she received the moment we walked in the door is levels above other places she has been. So grateful to be able to take her there.
Today was my 1 day a month that I feel like a patient. I fly in from El Paso to be examined and pick up my ongoing cemotherapies. The rest of the month I'm just another dentist who has had to adjust his schedule to only work from 9 to 2 because of some lingering fatigue from the stem cell transplant 18 months ago. I have stage 3 multiple myeloma and am doing great. My advice is to live your live as normally as you can and enjoy everyday. When I found out about my adenocarcinoma this was the first place I called to make an appt waited two days with no call back. Called back and was told they where verifying my insurance and it could take time. Four weeks later I get a call back but I had already gone to another cancer center.
If there was a 4.5 rating it would have it from me. The only place that is lacking is the cafeteria in building two. I only saw one employee with a smile on her face and I would think that a hospital should focus on the place where everyone gathers while awaiting information about their loved ones. Other than that I am a fellow cancer survivor, and I approve this message.
My husband was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma at 32. WE have just begun the battle. This place was scary and huge at first, but a little advice, talk with a social worker and be sweet to your nurse. There's an app you can download to stay informed when you feel lost. To our 10th floor G nurses: THANK YOU! I know working through the holidays must be hard but y'all made us feel like we were family. The social worker even gathered back packs with awsome stuff inside for our 3 kiddos. Best place in the world. If you want to be saved this is the place. Thank you all for what you do.
They say that they're state funded & can help people out that have no income or no insurance. I found out differently. I haven't had a job in over 3 years, been at the same place for almost 4 years & just recently gotten married. My husband doesn't have a job & neither of us are able to file taxes. With that being said, I'm unable to get any financial help, care or treatment with them. If something was to happen to me, my husband will be suing somebody.
