MD Anderson bills itself as the premium cancer center in the US if not the world. Unfortunately from my family's experience it appears that expertise is grossly overstated with some of their practices bordering on being outright incompetent if not worse. My wife died recently under their care. (pmk part 1)
I am 22 and I hate this hospital. The staffing is horrible, the doctors only want your money.I'm laying in bed crying my eyes out in G1239 in pain. I started getting a bad headache 2 hours ago and these Dr won't do anything for me. At least the nurses are trying. I'm ready to blow my mind out and the Dr wants to hand me tylenol when dilaudid isn't even working. The doctor won't even come see me crying in bad pain. Don't waste your money dying in a horrible place.
My private hell. When I was 14 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lympoma. The level of the disease was so bad I had to be put in clinical trials for the LSA2L2 protocol. Neither I nor my family would think I would become a human lab rat. I was literally treated like a lab rat - no pain meds, no nausea meds, nothing for the anxiety I was experiencing. For the pain I was told to just tough it out, for the nausea I was told to suck on a piece of hard candy and for the anxiety they told me just don't think about it. I had the op... read more
I had Dr Pedro Ramirez when I came to MD anderson in 2011 with late stage ovarian cancer. Extensive surgery was done, chemo, and today I live to tell the tale. God is good...and so is MD Anderson !!!!!!
I changed insurance and am paying 400 extra a month just so I can see someone here. Just got told that I can't even get a consult because I'm currently on chemo. SO when this stops working, which it will at some point, I have to wait weeks to see someone. Weeks I don't have. My cancer grows at a 97% GR. It's spread all over and you guys want me to wait WEEKS!! This was supposed to be easy getting in to see someone. Hopefully I will have better luck in San Antonio, I just want to live and here you are turning cancer people do... read more
Dr. Ferrajoli in the leukemia department is amazing. She is brilliant, kind, and caring and greatly improved my husband's quality of life. 10 years after diagnosis with CLL and still doing very well. Next month he will be 52.
Md anderson saved my husbands life.they were there to find out what was wrong instead of letting him die like the other hospitals in Oklahoma were doing. he was a week away from death he had no medication no help and nobody trying and nobody listening and MD Anderson found what was wrong and let us in the right direction and now he is so much better. MD Anderson gave my child her father and gave me my spouse back
We spent two days in Houston and the scheduling angels fit in 10 different appointments. Everyone was so kind, respectful, helpful and informative. For it being such an enormous place, the signs are great, easily understood, and intuitive. All departments work together, understand if you are delayed somewhere else and fit you in as soon as possible. Amazing experience. 20,000 employees working together in perfect harmony better than most work environments. Wow.
If you find out you have cancer, where ever you live- get yourself to MD Anderson. They are head and shoulders above any other hospital I have ever been to. They are, without question, the reason why I am still alive.
