The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. Amazing food, and service! The best waiter I've ever had.
In this historic, OLD building is a fabulous and quaint restaurant. Nice menu, great service, visible and fun owner, terrific drinks, and a focus on personalized customer attention are the hallmarks of this establishment. American and German foods are its mainstays, but there are a few delicious NOLA dishes and creative combos of traditional items. Highly recommend!
