The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. Every part of our dining experience at The Tavern was "off the chain". The atmosphere is incredible just knowing the history of the building. The staff was attentive and the food phenomenal. The escargot are the best I have ever had. The owner, Max, came by our table twice to check on us and yo make sure we were being taken care of. That never happens.......
The Tavern is awesome. The food is superb, the employees are very friendly, the owner personally greets the guests. There is so much history about the Tavern. We were given a wonderful history lesson and tour. Well worth the price and time.
The meal was just wonderful. Want to go back. Wonderful service and friendly servers.
Ribeye was beyond fabulous. Garlic parmesan dressing is glorious and atmosphere is perfection. One of our favorite spots.
Amazing! Cannot wait to go back. The escargot was the best I've ever had. Great wine list. Excellent steaks. Enjoyed speaking with the owner, Max. Don't miss it.
Awesome historical place. Great enviroment. Need some lower priced food however. $11 for 4 mushroom tops with bacon. Put more reasonaby priced appetizers at least. Bit awesome place.
Great food and service, will return when we are back in town.
