Went there for lunch with a group. The food was excellent and plenty of it. Vegetarians should not be put off by the menu, just ask and the options grow!
Just returned from this last minute booking here at the Star Hotel. Great location for us as we wanted something quiet but central to the area we were exploring. Dog friendly, room was modern and clean and comfy. The hosts couldn't do enough for you and the locals friendly. Very generous breakfast.
I was booked into the Star Hotel by my company while working. This is an old Inn with accommodation attached. New owners had recently taken over and were sorting out stuff. The room was acceptable but a struggled with the mattress as it was old. Breakfast was fantastic and Sammy is a great host. I booked a room for myself at the Star hotel so that I could attend an event in Wigtown without worrying about the 100 mile drive home afterward. Due to driving down to said event straight from work I didn't manage to check in until after 9pm. My hosts could not have been more accommodating, even offering to cook me a dinner when I enquired about the local take away situation. Storm Amy ruined our camping plans, but led us to a winner! We called The Star Hotel Twynholme last minute and were immediately welcomed. Our room was lovely, tidy, and had everything we needed. The pub was warm and friendly, with the landlord and landlady going above and beyond. Breakfast was delicious and served with no fuss. We’ll definitely be back
