The Pit offers some of the best barbecue in Raleigh. Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

Nice atmosphere if you find a place to park its gonna cost ya so go ahead and add $10 on that tab. They will milk you on the 20 oz beers. Just under $9 bucks but really $10 if ya tip. Bar staff bust their ass for ya. The food. I'm a competition BBQ Pitmaster and found the pulled pork a bit dry and was not offered a choice of sauce. The plate was $16.95 for about 6 ounces of meat with a side of string beans and fried okra. That's about $ 56 cents for the meat if ya prepare it at home. I ate 3 ounces. Should be a bit more gener... read more
The ribs were fabulous! The collard greens and hush-puppies were a great compliment, topped off with a good lager and a cheerful and attentive waitress!
Everything done right. No tastes conflict, and you can still taste the thing you're eating. Many times With BBQ everything tastes a bit the same. Not here. The smoke level is perfect, and you don't Ieave smelling like a campfire. The service is top notch and well paced. A manager came by and came out it was out 1st time there. Later he came back with a complimentary banana cream merengue dessert. WOW! An absulute must visit in the Raleigh NC area!
I have had better. The service was less than okay. My drink was refilled one time in a two hour span. The sauce that came with my food never came. The area itself is tight. The restroom was very awkward. If someone needed into the stall you couldn't wash your hands until they were in. The staff seemed to not communicate with each other which is odd considering they do group service. We had to get the manager to just get our ticket. Even he was unapologetic about the poor service and made excuses. I won't be back and don't re... read more
Food was good. Service was just ok, even with a 'group' effort as the manager called it.
Food was not good. Had the Cornbread Skillet(1 star) Fried Green Tomatoes(2 stars), Baby Back ribs (2 stars) Pulled Pork (3 stars) Fried Chicken (3 Stars) Brunswick Stew (1 star) Beans (2 stars) Slaw (3 stars)Service (2 stars).
The ribs are good - cooked perfectly. The brisket was fattier than I like it, and the pulled pork is done well. My husband loved the wings and the fried mac & cheese on the Pit Sampler. The soul rolls are a bit soggy and the deviled eggs had a good flavor to them. Our serving team was excellent, they stopped by the table to check on us and our dishes came out quickly. The biggest problem was we ordered too much food!
Awesome brisket that melts in your mouth and the fried okra is on point!
Food was good, service was good. Enjoyed the night at the Pit in Raleigh.
