The Pit offers some of the best barbecue in Raleigh. Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

The fact that this place doesn't have a Michelin star is a crime against humanity.
First time at The Pit and the food was incredible and even better the service was outstanding. Great waitstaff! I know a 1,000 night cover is no easy task but they make it happen and they do so gracefully! My hat is off to The Pit!
Ordered a pound of pulled pork got a half pound in a pint container. BOOOO.....
My brisket plate was a plate of fat. I told the waitress it was horrible and she didn't take it off my bill. I won't be going back. City BBQ in Cary is half the price and so much better.
Service was great. Food was average. I didn't dislike it but I wasn't overwhelmed by it.
The food was good but, our server was extremely rude, lowering the overall experience! We waited forever to be acknowledged and his unpleasant nature made it worse! By the way, he is a red head, some length to his hair
Food was good, but I've had better BBQ for the price. The pulled pork was quite dry, and we had to ask our server for sauce as the bottle on the table was empty. Brisket serving on the 2 meat plate was disproportionate to the serving of pork (a ton of pork as opposed to 3 slices of brisket). The brisket was excellent, so I was a little sad to only have 3 small slices! Mac and cheese was obviously homemade, and it was off the hook! Service was mediocre.
First time going and I was very satisfied with the food!!!! Will be going more often!!!!
Delish! Fantastic ambiance. Best pulled pork Sammy to date!
