Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

This place is the real deal! If you are in Raleigh it is a must stop on your list! From appetizers to main course and dessert it was out of this world!!!
The place was packed for sure but it is definitely worth the wait. The drinks were amazing if you enjoy mixed drinks try the back porch tea! The staff are very friendly, and the food was cooked to perfection as well. Their potato salad is out of this world I’ve never been to a restaurant that actually put mustard in their potato salad reminds me of my moms for sure. I shall come back every time it’s the best bbq I’ve ever had.
Friday was the first time to visit The Pit. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was comforting. Best BBQ I have had all year.
The food was really good here! I met up with my cousin from South Carolina for lunch and I loved my food. I got the pulled pork and it was a great taste. I would come here again when I am in the area next!
Food was excellent, along with service! Jerry was exceptional and on top of everything along with his other coworkers! The food was a southern delight, everything was full of flavor, and cooked to perfection! Best Mac and cheese around! Thank you to the management and staff for making my out of town experience one of the best!
Awesome food!! We took it to go... Only one tiny little itsie bitsie Issue... They should provide BBQ Sauce Packets or Samplers for take out. Other than that... All good!
I was in town and everyone recommended “The Pit” for some of the best bbq in NC. I can’t even believe this place had a line to get in. The ribs were boiled and tasted like something you would get from Applebee’s. The brisket was the worst piece of meat I have ever eaten. Tasted like corn beef that was cooked in a crockpot.
